Duggan, Detroit get spotlight at Clinton conference

Detroit will figure strongly in a three-day conference in Denver on American economic revitalization hosted by former President Bill Clinton.

Mayor Mike Duggan is among nearly 1,000 political and business leaders gathering for the conference put on by the Clinton Global Initiative America. It will focus on the nation's economic recovery and on, boosting social mobility and transforming battered cities like Detroit.

Other mayors participating in the event that kicks off today include Michael Nutter of Philadelphia, Michael Hancock of Denver and Richard Berry of Albuquerque.

Duggan will be joined by Rip Rapson, president and CEO of the Troy-based Kresge Foundation, one of the major donors to Detroit's bankruptcy deal that eased cuts on city pensioners and protected the city's art from liquidation.

Detroit Land Bank Authority was a creditor in the Detroit Bankruptcy.

The Kresge Foundation partners with the Aspen Institute where Rip Rapson works with John McCain, in human trafficking in child welfare.

He was working with Kwame Kilpatrick to create the Detroit Land Bank Authority.  He is why I do not have my degrees from Wayne State University because I blew the whistle.

Rip Rapson needs to be imprisoned for promulgating propaganda to cover up fraud.

Duggan is featured prominently on the agenda for the conference. A bio on the website, www.clintonfoundation.org, says Duggan has partnered with the Detroit City Council and leaders in Lansing and Washington, D.C., to remove blight, install more than 35,000 new streetlights, purchase 80 new city buses with federal funding and reduce response times of police and ambulances.

The Kresge Foundation also transformed foster care in Wayne County by focusing on strengthening public-private partnerships when it came to getting into the multi-billion dollar fraud schemes of foster care and adoption in Michigan, or rather children trust funds to invest in Detroit real estate, or rather the Detroit Land Bank Authority.

Duggan's office had no comment on what he would say during the conference.

Duggan and Rapson were to speak during closing remarks Wednesday focusing on "comeback cities." The agenda notes that the last nayears are turning themselves around through a series of different approaches."

Detroit was one of those inspiring moments with Duggan and Papson.

Duggan's ties to Clinton date back to the 1990s, when Duggan, then deputy to Wayne County Executive Ed McNamara, worked with the Clinton administration to secure federal funding for the modernization of Detroit Metro Airport.

The following audit was the other side of the Detroit Metro Airport Audit.  It was the Wayne County Department of Children and Family Services Juvenile Services Division by former Auditor Brendan Dunleavy, a man I hold in the higest esteem.

Brendan Dunleavy saved the lives of a few young boys who were being raped, tortured, drugged and trafficked by uncovering a multi-million dollar fraud scheme in child welfare.

The FBI dismissed me each and every time I would go downtown to the office to report fraud because I did not have an attorney, let alone afford one, if I could have even found one who could grasp the technical and legal concepts.

Plaintiff also alleges that he was a confidential informant who provided the FBI with information about possible criminal activity he uncovered in the course of these investigations.

Dunleavy is a hero and I shall make history humbly bow to him.

They were to be joined by April Anderson, co-owner of Good Cakes and Bakes, an organic bakery Anderson founded with her partner, Michelle Anderson, on Livernois in Detroit in 2013 with funding from Revolve Detroit, a Detroit Economic Growth Corp. program aimed at entrepreneurship to revive vacant storefronts in the city.

I produced congressional reports on the meetings of the City of Detroit Charter Commission.  I sat at the table of all these programs, with these people.

Rapson also was to speak tonight on the future of American cities.

I attended their meetings when I ran for office.  I only ran to understand the network to protect my Sweetie.

The Clinton Global Initiative has figured into the 2016 presidential race, with criticism about Democratic front-runner and former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's ties to the organization that has accepted significant foreign donations, including while she served as Secretary of State under President Barack Obama.

The Clinton Global Initiative also figured into the Michigan 13th Congressional District Primary race because they tried to take out my Sweetie, and the chosen candidate was Janice Winfrey, the City Clerk of Detroit.

Hillary Clinton resigned from the board of the Clinton Foundation, which puts on the CGI America event, the day she announced her candidacy for president.

The Clinton Foundation now functions as the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, a Michigan as a charity funneling money into political campaigns through child welfare tax exempt organizations like the Kresge Foundation or directly from the Detroit Land Bank Authority through the City of Detroit and Wayne County while the Michigan Attorney General of the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Division covers up the fraud.

Then they launder the rest overseas through international child welfare NGOs.

They stole the children of Detroit and trafficked them.

They stole the water of Detroit.

They stole the vote of Detroit.

They stole the property taxes of Detroit.

They stole the houses of Detroit and are attempting to erase the annals of history.

Guilty Detroit Metro airport boss gasps at verdict in $5M bribery case

Detroit — A former Detroit Metropolitan Airport official faces the longest corruption crime sentence in U.S. history after being convicted Wednesday of receiving more than $5 million worth of bribes.

James Warner, 52, of Commerce Township, gasped and arched his eyebrows as the jury forewoman said "guilty" 10 times for charges that included bribery, theft and money laundering conspiracies, and obstruction of justice, a charge that carries a possible 20-year prison sentence.

Warner could be sentenced to more than 30 years in federal prison. The sentence would eclipse the current record, a 28-year federal prison sentence being served by former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Warner will be sentenced Oct. 8 by U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts.

"The government is going to come at him guns blazing and seek the maximum sentence," said Peter Henning, a Wayne State University law professor and former federal prosecutor. "Whether Judge Roberts gives that to him is an open question."

Advisory sentencing guidelines call for 24-30 years in federal prison.

U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider, who was in the courtroom Wednesday, said his office will pursue a sentence within the guideline range, "at least."

Roberts has broad discretion and can ignore the guideline range.

Henning does not expect a record-setting sentence even though Warner was accused of receiving five times as much money as Kilpatrick.

"Being an elected mayor versus an airport official, I’m not sure they’re exactly comparable even though (Warner) took much more money," Henning said.

Prosecutors wanted Warner taken into custody Wednesday, calling him a flight risk and a danger to himself, citing what they believe was a suicide attempt in 2017.

More than $1 million remains unaccounted for and the money could bankroll a flight from justice, Assistant U.S. Attorney Eaton Brown told the judge.

Warner’s lawyer Robert Harrison disagreed. All of Warner’s assets have been frozen or seized, Harrison said, adding that Warner is not suicidal.

The judge read letters from Warner’s doctor before deciding to let Warner remain free until October. The letters convinced the judge Warner was not suicidal and she was satisfied he does not have money to fund an escape.

Warner and his lawyer declined comment.

Jurors deliberated for about four hours before reaching the verdict following a trial that lasted parts of three weeks. In a rare move, Warner testified in his own defense.

Warner, an airport manager and field inspector who also worked for West Bloomfield Township, is the rare indicted public official to stand trial on corruption charges and risk a decades-long federal prison sentence.

Two of the most recent politicians to stand trial in federal court —Kilpatrick and Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds — were convicted and sentenced to double-digit prison sentences.

Warner's alleged appetites distinguish him from the dozens of public officials who have been accused or convicted of corruption-related crimes in the last decade in Metro Detroit. He fabricated invoices, overcharged the airport for work performed by contractors and received more than $5 million worth of kickbacks during a four-year period, prosecutors said.

The alleged bribery conspiracy outlined by prosecutors started in May 2010 when Warner was working as a field inspector at the airport approving maintenance and repair contracts. He headed three related schemes involving Metro Detroit contractors, including Romulus businessman William Pritula, 70, whose company William Pritula & Sons held facilities and maintenance contracts at the airport, prosecutors said.

Warner drafted and submitted inflated invoices for work Pritula was hired to perform at the airport, according to the government. The payments totaled more than $18 million.

In return, Warner received approximately half of the profits from the contracts, or more than $5 million, according to the indictment.

Pritula pleaded guilty to bribery last year and could be sentenced up to 10 years in prison in September. He agreed to forfeit $5.4 million to the government.

Federal court records describe Warner as a greedy, potty-mouthed felon.

"If it weren't for me, your ass would be out," Warner told one airport contractor, according to the indictment.

That contractor, authorities allege, was Gary Tenaglia, 65, of Rochester, who was charged last year and accused of defrauding the Wayne County Airport Authority of $1.5 million.

Warner allegedly gave Tenaglia inside information so the contractor's company, Envision Electric, could win contracts. In return, Warner received 10 percent of each invoice, prosecutors said.

During one dinner, Warner and Tenaglia discussed contracts and kickbacks, prosecutors said.

"During the meal, James Warner wrote '5k,' a proposed kickback amount, on a napkin," prosecutors wrote in the indictment. "He folded it and slid it across the table to Gary Tenaglia. After Gary Tenaglia acknowledged the meaning of the writing on the napkin, James Warner retrieved the napkin and ate it."

Cocktails & Popcorn: Wayne County Treasurer & Prosecutor - Gerrymandering In Office

"The Elected Ones" do this all the time.

The Wayne County Treasurer's Office has the Wayne County Property Deed Fraud Unit.

Becky (said like a 1980s valley girl) Camargo, used to run the Wayne County Property Deed Fraud Unit, through the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, but did nothing.

Well, actually, Becky was working with Mike Duggan when he was Wayne County Prosecutor, but she ended up getting the Principal Attorney position at the Detroit Land Bank Authority when Duggan was elected Mayor, but that is just a coincidence.

Becky was still running the show over there with the Wayne County Property Deed Fraud Unit having properties sent over to the Detroit Land Bank Authority.

Becky had to leave Detroit Land Bank Authority, but now she is representing the contractors of her former Ham Sandwich, for I have no other term for DLBA because it never incorporated, so I have no idea how she was even hired, cashed her checks, and legally represented  it.

Kym Worthy is the Wayne County Prosecutor, now.

Kym may have a conflict of interest when it comes to prosecuting "The Elected Ones" who have ended up getting Detroit Land Bank Authority and Wayne County Tax Foreclosure Auction properties, but hey, what do I know?

I know Benny Napoleon is the Wayne County Sherrif.

And I know this is another form of gerrymandering.

And I know Garlin Gilchrist falls into the grouping of "The Elected Ones", too!

I also know alot about Raymond Wojtowicz, former Wayne County Treasurer because he used to hang out at the Piast Institute and Brendan Dunleavy used to have a lot to say, but no one would listen to him but me.

FBI scrutinizes Sabree property dealings; family underpaid taxes

The FBI is looking into land deals by the family of Wayne County Treasurer Eric Sabree, including an allegation that interest and penalties were waived on his son's delinquent properties, The Detroit News has learned.

Investigators have contacted a former Sabree staff member who complained to human resources about suspicious activity on the accounts of Sabree family properties, according to two sources familiar with the federal review.

They would only speak on the condition of anonymity.

Sabree's lawyer said he was not aware of an FBI investigation, but he said it was discovered in 2017 that the treasurer's family underpaid taxes on their delinquent property bills by $13,000, which is around the time of events the former staffer describes in her complaint.

Thomas attributed the shortfall to a mistake by Sabree's staff involving about a dozen family properties. The treasurer's wife paid the bills on May 24, 2017 shortly after they were recalculated, he said.

“It is our position that nothing inappropriate was done by Mr. Sabree,” said attorney Philip Thomas. “It was a mistake.”

The disclosures of a federal inquiry and irregularities with his family's properties come amid a Wayne County ethics board review of Sabree's activities. It was sparked by a Detroit News investigation that among other findings,showed a company Sabree founded and his wife participated in the county's tax foreclosure auction in violation of county rules.

Sabree responded to the ethics complaint earlier this week, denying any conflict of interest but expressing regret for his wife's purchases that may appear to run afoul of county policy.

His lawyer said Friday that he didn't know how the miscalculation of $13,000 with properties tied to Sabree happened or who found it. He said he was still gathering information and wasn't sure how far back the debt went back. Some of the properties included vacant lots on Wyoming and houses in Harper Woods, Thomas said, which Sabree's wife purchased from the annual tax auction.

The News asked Friday for a copy of the payment receipt, but Thomas declined to supply it because it contained his notes.

Sabree joined the office in 2011 as a deputy and has been treasurer since 2016. He makes $115,891 a year.

It is unclear if the FBI has launched a full investigation. FBI Special Agent Mara Schneider would neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation or discuss the bureau’s interest in the real estate dealings.

The News' investigation found, through multiple Freedom of Information Act requests, other county sales involving his son and nephew, along with family properties purchased at auction that later racked up enough tax debt that they could have been seized but weren't.

The former staffer sent a complaint in February 2018 detailing the allegations to Steve Mahlin, Wayne County's director of the county's personnel and human resources department, which The News obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.

The former clerical employee alleges that Sabree requested she reapply interest and penalties to his son's delinquent properties.

"Once I started to process a few, I noticed it was for his son," the woman wrote in the email. "This made me very uncomfortable."

Sabree later gave her an explanation of "why he waived" the interest and penalties, but "I didn't believe it," she wrote.

"I told him all I wanted was not to be asked to do something like this in the future."

The staffer's complaint was referred to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, which determined it had a conflict of interest. The treasurer's office funds the prosecutor's office.

The employee wasn't sent notice of that decision until a year later, the same day The News published the investigation into Sabree's family real estate dealings.

The prosecutor's office sent her a letter detailing their belief of a conflict of interest and recommending she contact the Michigan State Police. The number they suggested she call was a fax number.  

The former staffer sent the complaint to human resources after she put in a request to rejoin the treasurer's office and was denied, in part because she was told she had confrontations with coworkers. She had left the office for another job but it didn't pan out, she wrote.

The former staffer said in the complaint that she believed she was blocked from returning because she expressed concern over Sabree's son's interest and penalties.

Sabree's lawyer, Thomas, said he wasn’t aware of the specific allegation by the female staffer regarding Sabree’s son’s properties.

Taxes are often recalculated at the treasurer’s office to correct mistakes, Thomas said.

"Mistakes happen everywhere, in every office, everyday," said Thomas, who has been retained personally by Sabree and is not being paid through county funds.

Former Chief Deputy David Szymanski said that the correction of "clerical errors are not unusual" in the office, for example if a property mistakenly had a principal residency exemption reserved for owner occupants. 

Jerry Paffendorf, a critic of the annual auction and co-founder of Loveland Technologies which has studied the effects of foreclosure, said the Sabrees' family real estate transactions further erode trust in what he called a flawed process. 

"There has been a loss of trust for a long time," Paffendorf said. "There is not a consistent policy on why properties are foreclosed or not. ... I hope this is a gateway to a wider investigation that (the county isn't) following the law. "

The auction is controversial because the county seizes properties with delinquent tax bills and resells them to the highest bidder, a process that costs homeowners their equity and increases the risks associated with speculation.

Thomas said he doesn't want to comment on specifics about the pending ethics board review but said that Sabree is an “honest man.”

“I don’t think there is a shred of evidence to show he participated in improper conduct as Treasurer,” Thomas said. “Every allegation has turned out to be completely and utterly false. I haven’t seen any allegation that is troubling to me.

“There is an explanation for everything.”

County rules ban family members of Treasurer’s Office employees from participating in the auction, which seizes properties from delinquent taxpayers and resells them to the highest bidder.  Sabree has said the family ban was removed in 2015 and 2016 but is not sure why it was reinstated in 2017 and 2018.

The Detroit News investigation found that a company Sabree formed in 2002, which he says is now run by his wife, bought three Harper Woods homes from the auction in 2011, when he was deputy treasurer coordinating the sale. Sabree’s son Yusuf now lives in one of the homes; the other two are owned by the company Sabree formed. That company, U.S. Development Services LLC, later violated a requirement that tax payments for the homes remain current for at least two years.

Sabree’s son Adam, an attorney, was listed as a successful bidder for a Detroit home in 2017, although he said that it was an error probably caused by him helping a client register to bid. Both Adam and his brother Yusuf were registered bidders in 2016, although county records don’t suggest they were successful in purchasing property that year, The News found.

The investigation also found that 10 properties owned by Sabree, his wife or U.S. Development owed nearly $29,000 in delinquent taxes as of November, debts that were paid off 10 days after The News made inquiries about them. One of those properties by law should have been resold at auction because of the debt, but was not because of an error, Sabree said.

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans filed an ethics complaint against Sabree citing articles by The News and Detroit Free Press on the real estate dealings, which he called "extremely troubling."  County Commission Chairwoman Alisha Bell requested the commission's Auditor General start its regular audit of Sabree's office several months early to look into the real estate deals. 

The Wayne County Ethics Board's next meeting is March 20, but it's not clear if they will publicly review Evans complaint then. Sabree responded to the complaint on Monday.

In the response, Thomas reiterated earlier denials to The News that that there was any conflict of interest in the family real estate dealings and blamed Sabree's political enemies.

"He truly regrets this situation which has allowed his political adversaries to peck through his past for ammunition to use against him in an attempt to belittle the job he has done as Deputy Treasurer and more recently as the Treasurer," the written response reads. "He is genuinely sorrowful for the shadow that the media reports have cast over his distinguished career."

The activist group, Coalition to End Unconstitutional Tax Foreclosures, has called for the ethics board to investigate as well.

"Given that the Wayne County Treasurer’s office has foreclosed on one in four Detroit properties from 2011 to 2015, the problem is systemic," the group's statement reads. "If in fact systemic violations are discovered, this will support the Coalition’s call for a moratorium on selling owner-occupied homes in the tax foreclosure auction."

He came into Michigan with a bunch of big time corporate money to finance his campaign to be elected as Governor so he could sell off the state government service operations back to the corporations who funded his campaign, so he could be hired by them when he was term limited because he had planted all his people and policies and politicians in the state departments and agencies who handed out the contracts to the corporations who funded his campaigns and pay him, now, lobbying fees.

This is the world's first privatization model.

I recall the day he just up, and shut down residential institutions.

You woke up to see hundreds of individuals who were institutionalized their entire lives, wondering aimlessly on the streets, without medication, aged, disabled, old, and young.

It was quite the horrific site at 8 mile and Greenfield.

He and his corporate buddies got together and figured out that non-profits do not pay taxes, and, in particular, religious non-profits are even more secretive which means you can just take all the money you want and never get caught when you privatize child welfare services.

He sold off Michigan's children's legacies to the highest bidder by denationalizing, or rather, privatizing human services to "garner the best interests of the child" all around the world, starting with the Child Protective Services Model.

Engler led the way to hedge human capital with the blessings of the tax exempt god because this was the Bush era of faith-based funding, the new federal campaign slush fund machine for churches to pump out their privatization propaganda and the vote.

This was the beginning of the era of what I like to call "Pastor Pimp and Reverend Pork Chop' that broughtforth the phenomena of the megachurch.

A megachurch, more than likely built in Detroit, in what was and still is considered the mightiest congressional voting district, due to its civil rights, music, automobile history, and geographic location of an international trade border, water ways, grand trunk railroads and freeways, as a representation of community power temples, contolling the vote, the candidates and eventually the elected official by distracting them with pretty shiny things if they tried to join their privatization big money making clubs.

He re-invigored the residuals of peculiar institution with his PERM model, in the splendor of pilfering the coffers of the children's trust funds through Medicaid fraud in child welfare and the churches did not say a damn thing, except for thank you when they got their faith-based funding.

(Side note:  The Michigan acronym PERM was fungible with the federal Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM), you know, to throw off anyone who even dared think of calling out fraud to make people think you were crazy.)

After his term, Engler did a quick, "peace out" and left the state, that had a budget surplus, on the verge of bankruptcy, diffusing the privatization model all around the nation, and eventually, all over the world.

The world faith-based funding slush fund is warehoused in USAID of the State Department.

Engler sold Michigan's child welfare services to private corporations through contracts, setting up the quagmire of the Attorney General's conflict of interest in contemporaneously advising and advocating child welfare agencies in court.

In Wayne County, only the Attorney General prosecutes child abuse and neglect cases.

Enter Jennifer Granholm.

She got with the Clinton Foundation and her gurl, Hillary, to set up the very first, transposable model of privatizing child welfare fraud services under ASFA, and ran that socioeconomic experiment, right here in Detroit because no one had the sophistication to figure out what was going on but me.

The mortgage foreclosure fraud scheme hustle models were simaltaneously also launched in Detroit.

They ran it through the Michigan Democratic Party.

The Michigan Republican Party was making their dolla's holla's through their faith-based NGOs by promoting the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, that I worked on in dealing with parental rights, when I began to research and found out that the state was complicit in a corporate takeover.

See, it is like this, Michigan, set in motion by Engler's Type III Transfers with an Executive Order, with the finalizing stroke of Grahholm's pen, reorganized state government, put everything in the hands of a corporation, decentralizing executive powers, making governmental muddling to the likes of walking through a sewer, at night, with no lights nor protective equipment, for miles, not knowing if or when you would ever get out.

Not all governmental docs were online nor were federal, state or local governments online to the capacity of today, so I hope you appreciate the picture of what I went through to get this intel.

I was the first person to FOIA data extrapolation of county expeditures in child abuse and neglect court cases from the State.

Wayne County was running child welfare fraud operation to the tunen of $100 million a month and no one said a word, except for Brendan Dunleavy, former Wayne County Auditor General.

Exit Granholm, literally.  She took off to California and, as the article below presents it, Jenny from the Block was a bit too smart to take over as head of MSU because she sees me coming.

We shall leave it like that for now.

Engler did one more thing before he left the Office of Governor; he set up a network model in Michigan State University to run his corporate operations.

Blanchard, the Governor before Engler, was not that sophistocated in fraud schemes, but was eventually appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Canada, you know, to execute a transporting stuff model someone came up with and told him to make it happen, back and forth across the border, under the Clinton Administration.

But I am getting a bit ahead of the investigation and the tale of Michigan stealin'.

MSU was structuring not just child welfare policy and programs for the State of Michigan, it was also running programs and controlling resources, with United Way and Salvation Army linked up (that I will tell that story later or you can show me whacha got and pull PACER).

MSU was also running some bogus ass child welfare operations funneling money to questionable Russian enterprises (or Israeli because it is always the same people who go back and forth, restructuring each time they get busted stealin' like Catholic Charities).

Anyway, I digress because I am getting too excited.

Back to Engler, Clinton and Granholm.

Remember that time I told you the tale about University of Southern California, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Emergency Manager Law of Michigan, that next leg in the privatization model to take over government?

The Emergency Manager law was such a spectacular hit in the corporate, privatization world, that it eventually was implemented on the federal, and international levels which I will go into later, or you can just go through my archives, which brings us back to the article, below, and the resurrection of Engler.

The same university takeover model that was used to establish the USC PriceWaterhouseCooper School of Public Policy that came up with the land bank takeover model that Dan Kildee spearheaded, conjured up the Detroit Land Bank Authority, also came up with Michigan's public assest forfeiture Emergency Manager Law, is the same university takeover model that was implemented at Michigan State University.

MSU is and always has been the think tank for Michigan government, and so far, from what I have observed, is bigger than the Jerry Sandusky, Penn State horrors, which dealt with foster kids and child welfare fraud.

MSU was the place that came up with the Michigan Election Commission models because Chris Thomas told me so.  He told me they were students who put the election system together because they did not have to pay them.  I shall assume someone who negotiated the deal kept and split the federal funding for it.

There is much more to come because I truly cannot wait to see how Engler is going to pull himself out of this trick bag due to the fact that the Clinton Global Initiative University was never incorporated, and its Michigan Charity section filings are all jacked up, too.

The future always unlocks the past and revenge is a dish, best served cold.

I am putting my money on Schuette to do the right thing and serve me, at my pleasure, in the most public fashion.

The moral of the story shall always be, "Do not be mean to my Sweetie".

Former Gov. John Engler to be Michigan State's interim president

Michigan State University will name former Michigan Gov. John Engler to be interim president, multiple sources with knowledge of discussions told the Free Press.

Engler, a Republican, is a MSU graduate. He is expected to be named to the position at a special 9 a.m. MSU board meeting Wednesday.

Also coming on board is another former Michigan governor, Jim Blanchard, a Democrat, who will be named as a senior adviser. Blanchard is also a MSU graduate.

Board members believe that by adding both Engler and Blanchard - former leaders of both major political parties in Michigan - any concerns about politics will be muted.

Engler will be in place while the board conducts a nationwide search for the replacement to Lou Anna Simon, who resigned last week in the fallout of the Larry Nassar case.

She made the announcement hours after a judge sentenced Nassar to 40 to 175 years in prison as part of a plea deal on seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving more than 156 girls and women over more than two decades.

She said in her resignation statement there was no cover-up at MSU.

"The survivors’ accounts are horrific. They are tragic, heartbreaking, and personally gut-wrenching. I take solace that many victims have indicated that the opportunity to confront Nassar is a step toward healing. I am proud of the exceptional work of the Special Victims Unit led by Lieutenant Andrea Munford with the steadfast leadership of Chief Dunlap. I am proud of my support of their work even though the results have been very painful to all who watched," Simon said.

After Simon resigned, there were a number of names raised to the board as possible interim presidents, including Engler, Blanchard and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

In a tweet shortly after Simon resigned, Granholm said it wouldn't be her.

"Not me, but I’m confident they will find a strong, clear leader. For the sake of current and future Spartans, let’s hope so."

Also raised as a possible interim choice was former Grand Valley State University President Mark Murray, who also served as president of Meijer, Inc. Murray told board members he wasn't interested, sources said.

Blanchard and Murray were all mentioned as a possible MSU president when Peter McPherson left in 2004 and Simon was promoted from provost to president.

But as MSU graduates and top executives of a large bureaucracy, Engler and Blanchard are natural picks, and will appease both the Republicans and Democrats on the MSU board of trustees, which has a 4-4 partisan split.

Engler, 69, has been a longtime political presence in Michigan. He was the youngest person elected to the state House of Representatives in 1970 at the age of 22, where he served until 1979, leaving after winning a seat in the state Senate and serving as the iron-fisted Senate Majority Leader.

He scored a razor thin victory over then incumbent Governor Blanchard in 1990 and stayed in the state's top job through the end of 2002. After leaving the job, he moved to Washington where he served as president and CEO of the National Manufacturers Association and then the head of the Business Roundtable, a national organization of business leaders. He retired last year and has a home in Laingsburg with his wife Michelle. His triplet daughters have all recently graduated from college.

After losing his reelection bid in 1990, Blanchard became the U.S. Ambassador to Canada under President Bill Clinton and later became a partner in the Washington DC-based law firm of DLA Piper. He ran for governor again in 2002, but lost to then Attorney General Jennifer Granholm, who would then go on to win two terms as Michigan's governor.

The choice was applauded by both politicians and people who have worked with the men.

"John Engler is the right choice to be Michigan State University's interim president," said Speaker of the House Tom Leonard, R-DeWitt Township. "He is a strong leader with a proven track record of reform, and the school needs someone who is able to come in from the outside, stand up to the status quo and make immediate changes."

David Doyle was the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party while Engler was governor. While he was surprised that Engler was the choice, given the partisan make-up of the board, "I think he'll do a great job."

But, it seems the miracle of soap and water was bestowed upon Tristan. when he was arrested, where he magically transformed from a Detroit "urban pioneer" hipster into a surprisingly, very well organized advocate of due process, where his group, Detroit Will Breathe, just so happens to state in its Articles of Incorporation as a Domestic Non Profit Corporation:

Tyler out of Texas was running the Wayne County Land Records website, because it has a .com extension and not .gov, which means there are unknown administrators who can just, whenever they want, probably from a cell phone, can manipulate recordkeeping in one fast swoosh of a delete, leaving no need for complex bleachbitting.

Now, the questions brewing are the following:

How come I cannot get into the State of Indiana UCC system to see if there are any liens on the Tyler Technologies, Inc. branch office, registered in the State of Texas through the State of Delaware, where I might just go with Ukraine, simply because of the date of incorporation, and the fact that I have previously covered this?

How come Tyler Technologies, Inc., has 66 U.S. Trademarks, where, from what I am seeing, is the administrative database management system, invading the United States, and, how come no one is doing anything about it?

Oh, wait, I know, because it started in Detroit and no one cares.

Tyler is not just the privatized keeper of the county land records, but it is also the cheap ass ghetto system Wayne County Courts procured.

It sucks.

Try figuring out the case codes because they are based on some crap someone, somewhere, in some other non english speaking country just made up for their very own, new and improved privatized, predictive modeling justice crap.

I got so pissed, not at the clerks, who knew exactly what I was talking about, I called Arizona, where they manage the court record, and the service representatives sounded like I was on some, warm and sunny southeastern asian pacific beach....

So, does this Tyler Technologies, Inc., a foreign corporation, where we still have yet to identify the allodial title holder of the office of head honcho, run the same game for other Wayne County human asset management databases, like Medicaid Fraud in Child Welfare?

I think we should invite Brendan Dunleavy to the fun.

And we most definitely need to ask Carlita Kilpatrick.

She knows lots of stuff.

DEA chief: Trump campaign has 'nothing to do' with feds in Detroit

The nation's top drug cop says Detroit's crime problem got so bad this summer that the feds had to come and help right away, and that President Donald Trump's campaign has nothing to do with their presence in Michigan.

"Politics has nothing to do with this," U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Administrator Timothy Shea said during a Wednesday visit to Detroit.

"There's nothing political about a 50% increase in aggravated assaults. There's nothing political about the 370 people who were shot (here) in the last two months ... Should I have waited before the election is over?" said Shea, defending the federal government's intervention in Detroit under a White House initiative dubbed Operation LeGend.

The operation, which has sent 42 federal agents to Detroit, has raised criticism locally by many who believe the effort is a political ploy to win Trump votes. They also question the timing of Operation LeGend: Trump launched it three months before the November election from the White House and criticized many of the Democratic leaders in the cities he was sending help to.

Shea, however, says the DEA isn't interested in politics, but in taking down drug lords and dismantling the Mexican cartel that he says is wreaking havoc on Detroit.

"We didn't invent the violent crime problem," said Shea.

"Hey, Boo Boo! I waved at you when you flew over my house,
but you never waved back. Maybe next time."

He denied federal law enforcement is in Detroit and elsewhere to help Trump get elected.

"I don't think these criticisms are valid," Shea said during an interview with the Free Press, saying Operation LeGend is "absolutely not a political tool."

Detroit has a serious crime problem largely fueled by drugs that got even worse during the pandemic, Shea said, and the local police need federal help.

"The cartels? Their representatives are here in Detroit today. Detroit itself cannot handle that kind of invasion of the city by drug cartels," Shea said, stressing the city has many "sophisticated drug operatives that are armed to the 'T.' "

Shea's visit comes one week after U.S. Attorney General William Barr visited Detroit to check on the progress of Operation LeGend, which is supported by Police Chief James Craig and Mayor Mike Duggan.  It comes following a weekend of unrest in downtown Detroit, where 42 demonstrators were arrested while protesting Operation LeGend.

Like Barr, Shea toured the city by helicopter and also saw some of Detroit's blighted neighborhoods closer up from a vehicle, including an area near City Airport.

"It's a tough neighborhood," Shea said. "I always think about the people who live there."

Shea, though, didn't meet any Detroiters during the neighborhood tour. He said he will be meeting with residents when he visits Seattle next week.

"I would like to meet with more people ... people who live in those areas," Shea said, referring to potential future visits to Detroit neighborhoods.

Shea was named the DEA acting administrator in May. Since then, he has visited numerous cities across the country. In Detroit he also met with U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, toured their investigative operations along the Canada border, visited the Selfridge Air National Guard base and met with Detroit Police officials.

According to Shea, when it comes to drugs and drug violence, Detroit ranks among the hardest hit cities in the U.S. He said drugs fuel most of the city's violent crimes. He said meth in particular appears to be on the rise in Detroit, though he didn't have statistics.

Of particular concern, Shea said, is the mixing of drugs with fentanyl, which is contributing to a rise in overdose deaths across metro Detroit.

Shea also discussed the role the pandemic has had on drug use and drug crimes. There is anecdotal evidence across the country of people using more drugs because they have more time on their hands and because drug treatment centers have been shut down, he said. This in turn creates more violence, he said, noting "there are very few people who commit most of the crimes."

But there's also an upside to the pandemic, Shea said, noting that when the border to Mexico shut down, the shutdown trapped a stockpile of drugs on one side, and a stockpile of cash on the American side.

There's tens of millions of dollars in drug cash in Detroit and elsewhere, he said, but the feds are getting to it. Most recently, Shea said, agents working under Operation LeGend seized $5.5 million in cash that was meant for drug bosses in Mexico. The operation also led to the arrests of 22 people in Detroit, many of them wanted for drug crimes.

The big problem, however, still awaits, Shea noted: When the border reopens after the pandemic, and the drugs come pouring back in.

"We're ramping up our efforts now," Shea said.
