DOJ: Tuscaloosa Man Sentenced to 600 Years in Prison for Sexual Exploitation of Children

But, was he a foster parent?

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A federal judge today sentenced a Tuscaloosa man for sexually exploiting two young children, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp, Jr.

Chief U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler sentenced MATTHEW MILLER, 32, to 7,200 months in prison for producing child pornography.  Miller was charged in a 20-count indictment for enticing two children under the age of 5 to engage in sexual explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual production of such conduct.   A search warrant was obtained for the defendant’s electronic devices.  The forensic examination of those devices revealed 102 pornographic images that the defendant had produced of the children. Miller pled guilty to these charges in October 2019.

“Child predators seek out and victimize those that are the most innocent and vulnerable - children,” Escalona said.  “The sentences imposed today and yesterday in local child exploitation cases reflect the commitment of law enforcement in this district to prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law those who commit crimes against children.”

“The crimes for which Miller has admitted guilt are not only disturbing, they are sickening, and his actions robbed these children of their childhood,” Sharp said.  “I am proud of the work of the FBI on this case, and I applaud the sentence handed down today, as Miller will spend the rest of his natural life behind prison bars.”

FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force investigated the case, along with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Unit.   Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White prosecuted the case.

DOJ: Vermont Man Charged with Hiring Person to Kidnap and Kill a Man in a Foreign Country, and Producing and Receiving Child Pornography

Just another day at the office.

A federal grand jury in the District of Vermont returned a third superseding indictment today against a Burlington man for conspiring to kidnap and kill a man in a foreign country, murder for hire, and five child pornography offenses.
Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Christina E. Nolan of the District of Vermont, and Resident Agent in Charge Michael Shea of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Burlington, Vermont, made the announcement.
Sean Fiore, 36, was charged with one count of conspiring to kidnap and murder a man in a foreign country from within the United States, one count of producing and attempting to produce child pornography, one count of conspiring to produce child pornography, and one count of receiving and attempting to receive child pornography.  Fiore is also charged with using interstate commerce facilities, namely cell phones and the Internet, in the commission of murder-for-hire, and an additional count each of possession and receipt of child pornography, with which he was charged in prior indictments.
Fiore was arrested in May 2019, as part of an operation conducted by Vermont’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) and HSI, that involved executing search warrants on several residences in May 2019, based on cyber tips that were received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  Fiore is currently detained pending trial, and his initial appearance on the superseding indictment will take place before Magistrate Judge John M. Conroy in the District of Vermont on a date yet to be scheduled.
The indictment alleges that between November 2018 and April 2019, Fiore knowingly and intentionally used and caused to be used facilities of interstate and foreign commerce, namely, the Internet and cell phones, with the intent of paying someone to kidnap and murder an adult male in a foreign country.  Fiore is alleged to have conspired with that person to have a male victim kidnapped, bound, tortured, and then murdered, so that a video of the torture and killing could be made.  Fiore allegedly paid approximately $4,000 for the video to be made.
An indictment is merely an allegation.  All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The investigation was conducted by HSI.  Trial Attorney Mona Sahaf of the Criminal Division’s Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Masterson of the District of Vermont are prosecuting the case with the assistance of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs.

Prelude To Detroit: Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison To Handle Investigation IntoGeorge Floyd & Police

There is so much more to this story the media refuses to cover.

#maytheheavensfall

Attorney General Keith Ellison upgrade charges against officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck; charged other 3 involved

Ellison took over case on Sunday.

Attorney General Keith Ellison's office on Wednesday upgraded charges against the former Minneapolis police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck and charged the other three officers at the scene with aiding and abetting murder.

Ellison held a news conference Wednesday to discuss the charges.

"We strongly believe these developments are in the interest of justice for Mr. Floyd, his family, this community and our state," he said. "George Floyd mattered. He was loved, his family was important and his life had value," Ellison said. "We will seek justice for him and for you and we will find it."

However, he acknowledged, "I don't believe one successful prosecution can reflect the hurt and loss that people feel."

Former officer Derek Chauvin, who recorded on video kneeling on Floyd's neck as he begged for air on May 25, now faces the more serious charge of second-degree murder, in addition to the original charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter with culpable negligence.

The amended complaint filed against Chauvin stated that "Police are trained that this type of restraint with a subject in a prone position is inherently dangerous. … Officer Chauvin's restraint of Mr. Floyd in this manner for a prolonged period was a substantial factor in Mr. Floyd losing consciousness, constituting substantial bodily harm, and Mr. Floyd's death as well."

During a rally at 38th St. and Chicago Av. in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, Ireland McAbee of Eau Claire, Wis., raised her fist in celebration of the news that Attorney General Keith Ellison had upgraded charges in the death of George Floyd.
More

Chauvin was originally charged by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office last week with one count each of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Don Lewis, special prosecutor in the case against Jeronimo Yanez, the former St. Anthony police officer who killed Philando Castile in 2016, said the nearly 9-minute recording of the moments before Floyd died showed ample evidence of intent to kill on Chauvin's part.

"Those are moments to cause reflection on whether or not you're in the middle of a wrongful death here," Lewis said. "You have George Floyd begging for his life, right? 'I can't breathe.' This is a moment of potential reflection on Chauvin's part," Lewis said. "He had multiple opportunities to change course here and decided not to over the span of almost 10 minutes."

The other former three officers at the scene — Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane — were each charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder while committing a felony, and with aiding and abetting second-degree murder manslaughter with culpable negligence. Both charges are categorized as "unintentional" felonies.

Thao was recorded watching as Chauvin continued to press on Floyd's neck with his knee. Kueng was one of the first officers on the scene and helped pin Floyd down. Lane was detailed in earlier charges as pointing a gun at Floyd before handcuffing, and later asked whether officers should roll Floyd on his side as he was restrained.

The charges come just days after Gov. Tim Walz asked Ellison to take over the prosecution, which until Sunday had been led by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

The charges noted that Floyd was "calm" after he was first arrested and before Chauvin knelt on his neck. The complaint also noted three times that after Floyd was pinned to the pavement by three officers, none of them moved from their positions despite pleas from Floyd. Video of the incident showed that bystanders also pleaded with police.

Floyd had told the first two officers at the scene – Lane and Kueng – that he was not resisting arrest, but did not want to get into the back of their squad car because he is claustrophobic, the charges said.

Walz issued a statement after Ellison announced the new charges.

"I laid flowers at George Floyd's memorial this morning. As a former high school history teacher, I looked up at the mural of George's face painted above and I reflected on what his death will mean for future generations. What will our young people learn about this moment? Will his death be just another blip in a textbook? Or will it go down in history as when our country turned toward justice and change?

"It's on each of us to determine that answer," Walz said. "The charges announced by Attorney General Keith Ellison today are a meaningful step toward justice for George Floyd. But we must also recognize that the anguish driving protests around the world is about more than one tragic incident.

"George Floyd's death is the symptom of a disease. We will not wake up one day and have the disease of systemic racism cured for us. This is on each of us to solve together, and we have hard work ahead," he said. "We owe that much to George Floyd, and we owe that much to each other."

One of the attorneys representing George Floyd's family, Benjamin Crump, released a statement shortly after 1:15 p.m. Wednesday praising the arrest and charging of the other three officers and the upgrading of murder charges against Chauvin.

Crump's statement came before Ellison's office made any official announcements.

"This is a bittersweet moment for the family of George Floyd," said the joint statement by Floyd's family, Crump and the legal team. "We are deeply gratified that Attorney General Keith Ellison took decisive action in this case, arresting and charging all the officers involved in George Floyd's death and upgrading the charge against Derek Chauvin to felony second-degree murder."

Attorneys for the officers declined to comment or could not be immediately reached Wednesday afternoon.

"This is a significant step forward on the road to justice, and we are gratified that this important action was brought before George Floyd's body was laid to rest," the family's and Crump's statement said. "That is a source of peace for George's family in this painful time."

The statement urged Ellison to continue the investigation and upgrade the charges to first-degree murder, which carries a potential life sentence.

First-degree murder requires proof of planning out the crime.

"These officers knew they could act with impunity, given the Minneapolis Police Department's widespread and prolonged pattern and practice of violating people's constitutional rights," the statement said. "Therefore, we also demand permanent transparent police accountability at all levels and at all times."

The family and Crump thanked the "outpouring" of support they've received, which manifested in days of huge protests across the country and world.

"Our message to them: Find constructive and positive ways to keep the focus and pressure on," they said. "Don't let up on your demand for change."

The former officers' prosecution is the quickest in Minnesota history against officers who have killed civilians on the job, and is the first time more than one officer involved in such an incident has been criminally charged. Three officers have previously been charged with killing a civilian on the job; one, Mohamed Noor, was convicted at trial while two were acquitted.

DOJ: Texas Couple Sentenced to a Combined 140 Years in Prison for Conspiracy to Produce Child Pornography and Other Crimes Against Children

Where did they get those children?

A husband and wife from Big Spring, Texas, were sentenced today to a combined 140 years in prison for crimes against multiple children.
Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S Attorney Erin Nealy Cox of the Northern District of Texas and Special Agent in Charge Ryan L. Spradlin of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) made the announcement.
Christopher James Regan, 38, a former shipping logistics manager, was sentenced to 90 years in prison after pleading guilty in October 2019 to conspiracy to produce child pornography and two counts of producing child pornography.  Tanya Marie Regan, 35, was sentenced to 50 years in prison after her October 2019 guilty plea to conspiracy to produce child pornography and possession of prepubescent child pornography.  The sentences, which were imposed by U.S. District Judge Mark T. Pittman of the Northern District of Texas, also included lifetime terms of supervised release for both defendants.
According to court documents, Christopher and Tanya Regan sexually abused and produced child pornography of multiple children, and they possessed and distributed child pornography to one another as well.  The Regans also engaged in graphic discussions about the sexual abuse of children over several online platforms.
In plea papers, the pair admitted that at Christopher Regan’s direction, Tanya Regan repeatedly videotaped herself sexually abusing children for Christopher Regan’s sexual gratification.
When law enforcement seized electronics from the home, several graphic videos had been deleted, but were still stored in the recycle bin or on unallotted space on various SD cards. Undeleted videos were stored in a computer folder titled “users\tanya_000\pictures\privatevids\minor.”
HSI’s San Angelo, Texas, office, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and the High Technology Investigative Unit within the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) investigated the case.  Substantial assistance was provide by the HSI offices in Lubbock and Tyler, Texas, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the National Center for Mission and Exploited Children.  Trial Attorney Kyle P. Reynolds of CEOS and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ann Howey and Jeffrey R. Haag prosecuted the case along with former Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell H. Lorfing.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.  Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. DOJ: New York DEA Diversion Investigator Charged With Attempting To Produce Child Pornography And Enticing A Minor To Have Sex

I 💘 SDNY.org

Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Dermot Shea, the Commissioner of the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”), Keith A. Bonanno, Special Agent in Charge of the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (“DOJ OIG”) Cyber Investigations Office, and Guido Modano, Special Agent in Charge of the DOJ OIG New York Field Office, announced today the arrest and filing of charges against FREDERICK L. SCHEININ.  The Complaint charges that between October 2019 and January 2020, SCHEININ attempted to produce child pornography and entice a minor to have sex.  SCHEININ was arrested yesterday and will be presented later today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker in Manhattan federal court.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said:  “As a diversion investigator at the DEA, Frederick Scheinin’s foremost responsibility was to protect the public from illegally diverted drugs.  Instead of fulfilling this worthy mission, Scheinin allegedly spent months attempting to prey on a 14-year-old boy.  This arrest exemplifies that no one is above the law.  Our law enforcement partners will continue to bring all necessary tools to bear to apprehend individuals who wish to do harm to young children, no matter who they are.”
NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said:  “I want to commend the U.S. Attorney and our federal partners who, together with our NYPD investigators, work every day to protect the innocent against such alleged reprehensible predators.  I am proud of the undercover work in this case, which has now led to criminal charges against a law enforcement officer who allegedly betrayed his sacred oath.”
DOJ OIG Cyber Investigations Office Special Agent in Charge Keith A. Bonanno said:   “The OIG and our law enforcement partners will thoroughly investigate allegations of abuse or exploitation of children by DOJ employees.  Those who are found guilty of this type of criminal behavior will be brought to justice.”
Up until the time of his arrest, SCHEININ was a diversion investigator in the New York Field Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”).  According to the allegations in the Complaint filed in Manhattan federal court today[1]:
Between October 2019 and January 2020, SCHEININ used a multimedia messaging application on his cellphone to communicate with an undercover law enforcement officer (“UC‑1”) who was posing as a 14-year-old boy.  SCHEININ repeatedly sent sexually explicit images and videos to UC-1 in an attempt to persuade UC-1 to transmit sexually explicit images, photos, and live visual depictions of UC-1 to SCHEININ.  In particular, SCHEININ repeatedly asked UC-1 to transmit images and videos of UC-1’s penis.  The Complaint further alleges that SCHEININ attempted to arrange a meeting with UC-1 at which SCHEININ planned to have sex with UC-1.  Law enforcement arrested SCHEININ yesterday in New York, New York, at a location where SCHEININ said he would meet UC-1.  SCHEININ was in possession of condoms and lubricant at the time of his arrest.
SCHEININ, 29, of Sunnyside, New York, is charged with one count of attempted production of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, and one count of attempted enticement of a minor, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and maximum sentence of life in prison.  The maximum potential sentences in this case are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge.
The charges in the Complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
*                      *                     *
Mr. Berman praised the outstanding investigative work of the NYPD and the DOJ OIG New York Field Office and Cyber Investigations Office.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office’s Complex Frauds and Cybercrime Unit.  Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas Chiuchiolo is in charge of the prosecution.

Katie Hill, rising Democratic star in House, denies relationship with staff member

WASHINGTON — Rep. Katie Hill, a first-term Democrat broadly thought-about a rising star in her social gathering, on Tuesday denied reviews that she had a sexual relationship with a member of her congressional workers however refused to touch upon an allegation that she was intimately concerned with a marketing campaign aide, saying nude of her and one other girl was revealed on the web with out her consent.

Hill, 32, of California, made her feedback in a quick interview and a press release in response to a report on conservative information website RedState alleging that she had been intimately concerned together with her legislative director and individually in a three-way sexual relationship with a younger marketing campaign aide and her husband, whom she is divorcing.

Members of Congress are barred by Home guidelines from partaking in sexual relationships with their aides, however the guidelines don’t cowl marketing campaign workers. Hill mentioned the , which seems to point out the congresswoman seated and brushing the hair of one other girl, was the topic of a police investigation.

“Intimate photos of me and another individual were published by Republican operatives on the internet without my consent,” Hill mentioned within the assertion.

“I have notified Capitol Hill police, who are investigating the situation and potential legal violations of those who posted and distributed the photos, and therefore will have no further comment on the digital materials,” she mentioned.

Conservative critics of Hill have referred to as on her to resign, saying the images posed a nationwide safety danger and will have uncovered her to blackmail. However Hill mentioned she had no intention of quitting. Supporters mentioned she was a sufferer of “revenge porn” — technically referred to as nonconsensual pornography — which is prohibited below California legislation.

Hill mentioned the tales, which she referred to as “a smear campaign,” have been being pushed by Republican operatives and a “husband who seems determined to try to humiliate me.”

She mentioned she had spoken to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her high lieutenant, Rep. Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, concerning the matter. Hoyer declined to remark, and a spokesman for Pelosi mentioned the speaker was on her approach to Baltimore on Tuesday for the funeral of her brother.

Hill, who campaigned to make historical past as the primary overtly bisexual congresswoman from California, unseated a Republican, Steve Knight, within the so-called blue wave that carried Democrats to energy within the Home in 2018. She is a favourite of Pelosi, who named her vice chairwoman of the Home Oversight and Reform Committee, an unusually high-ranking place for a freshman on a panel that’s enjoying a vital position within the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

Hill represents elements of the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys, probably the most conservative district in Los Angeles County, and is anticipated to have a tricky reelection race there. Because the RedState report, her Republican critics have been circulating the nude picture on Twitter, which has taken the posts down for violating the platform’s guidelines towards sharing express pictures of somebody with out their consent.

“She’s a victim of revenge porn, which is a form of domestic violence and psychological abuse,” mentioned Kat Walker, a gun management activist and Hill supporter, who mentioned she had spent the previous a number of days reporting Twitter customers who posted the picture. “We worked very hard for her. I already know I’m going to have to work very hard for her again, scandal or no scandal.”

The report involving Hill — and the Home management’s muted response to it — comes within the context of the #MeToo motion, amid heightened sensitivity concerning the conduct of males in positions of energy, together with members of Congress. It raises questions on whether or not there’s a double customary for women and men who have interaction in intimate relationships within the office.

RedState additionally revealed what it characterised as textual content messages between Hill and the marketing campaign aide, who was not recognized, that instructed Hill was breaking off their apparently consensual relationship so she may deal with her duties in Washington. If that’s true, consultants in office legislation mentioned, it may be inappropriate however not unlawful.

“Clearly there is an inherent power differential between Congresswoman Hill and a young campaign staffer who worked for her, but there’s nothing unlawful about having a relationship with people who work for you as long as it is consensual,” mentioned Debra Katz, a Washington lawyer who represents victims of sexual harassment. “But clearly this shows bad judgment.”

Some male Democrats mentioned privately Tuesday that if Hill had been a person, there would have been a right away uproar that may more than likely have resulted in a compelled resignation. In recent times, a number of males have resigned from Congress after tales about their sexual conduct, however these resignations typically concerned allegations of harassment.

The dealing with of such incidents tends to range case by case. In November 2017, Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, introduced that he wouldn’t search reelection after a nude picture of him was revealed, together with express textual content messages between him and a feminine constituent.

Additionally that November, Al Franken, D-Minn., was compelled out of the Senate after he was accused of groping girls, and Rep. John Conyers Jr. of Michigan misplaced his publish as the highest Democrat on the Judiciary Committee — and was finally compelled to resign after a number of former aides accused him of harassment.

A month later, Ruben Kihuen, a comparatively unknown Democratic Home member from Nevada, was accused of propositioning his marketing campaign finance director for intercourse regardless of her protestations. Inside hours, Pelosi, then the Democratic minority chief, demanded his resignation.

Hill’s critics have been making obscure threats on social media suggesting that extra revelations concerning the congresswoman are to come back. On Tuesday, RedState revealed an extra trove of textual content messages purportedly amongst Hill, the marketing campaign aide and her husband.

Rep. Katie Hill threatens legal action over nude photos

Attorneys for Rep. Katie Hill on Thursday threatened to bring legal action against a British tabloid for posting what it claims are nude photos of the freshman California Democrat.

Hill’s legal team — Marc Elias and Rachel Jacobs of the firm Perkins Coie — also suggested Hill was defamed over a report by the Daily Mail that she has a Nazi-inspired tattoo on her body.

In a cease-and-desist letter to Candace Trunzo, executive editor of the Daily Mail, Elias and Jacobs demanded that “you remove these photos from publication at once.” The newspaper ran a series of intimate photos of Hill and a former campaign staffer with whom it said she had an affair before Hill won her seat in Congress. Hill, who is going through an acrimonious divorce, has admitted to an “inappropriate” relationship with a female campaign staffer and apologized to her constituents over the matter.

Hill, however, has denied having a sexual relationship with her male legislative director, Graham Kelly. The conservative website RedState.org. reported that allegation initially on Oct. 18 and published a nude photo of Hill. The Hill-Kelly relationship was purportedly uncovered by Hill’s husband, Kenny Heslep. There is no proof that an improper relationship between Hill and Kelly — who also worked on her campaign — occurred. The House Ethics Committee is investigating the issue.

The 32-year-old has asked the U.S. Capitol Police to look into whether any criminal laws were violated by release of the photos.

The Daily Mail followed RedState’s initial report with the release of an array of intimate photos of Hill on Thursday, including one of her using a bong while naked. The Daily Mail did not respond to requests for comment about Hill’s threat of legal action.

“You have also exposed your publication to grave legal consequences for California has some of the strongest criminal laws in the United States against the secretive generation and distribution of private, sexual images,” Elias and Jacobs asserted in their letter to the Daily Mail. “The California Penal Code accordingly makes it a criminal offense to ‘intentionally distribute the image of the intimate body part or parts of another identifiable person.’”

In one photo, the Daily Mail reported Hill had a “Nazi-era tattoo.” Hill’s attorneys strongly denied this accusation and suggested the publication might have defamed her.

“The claim that Representative Hill has Nazi imagery on her body in the form of a tattoo is false and defamatory,” Elias and Jacobs said. “We demand that you immediately cease and desist the publication of these abusive and spurious images. The continued publication by your outlet or others of these images will warrant legal response.”

DOJ: Four Men Sentenced to Prison for Engaging in a Child Exploitation Enterprise on the Tor Network

You have networks, but you also have servers, big, encrypted servers, but I believe DOJ finally has mastered an understanding of the world of trafficking tiny humans.

The creator and lead administrator of a highly sophisticated Tor-network-based website dedicated to the sexual abuse of children was sentenced Friday, along with three others, for their roles in this global child exploitation enterprise.
Patrick D. Falte, 29, of Franklin, Tennessee, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, three counts of advertising child pornography, and three counts of distributing child pornography.  Benjamin A. Faulkner, 28, of Ontario, Canada, was sentenced to 35 years in prison; Andrew R. Leslie, 24, of Middleburg, Florida, was sentenced to 30 years in prison; and Brett A. Bedusek, 35, of Cudahy, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, all for engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, by Chief U.S. District Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw of the Middle District of Tennessee.  The judge also sentenced each defendant to a lifetime of supervised release.  Falte had previously pleaded guilty to the charges in June 2018, and Faulkner, Leslie and Bedusek had pleaded guilty in November 2018.
“The Giftbox Exchange proved a haven for sophisticated predators to produce and spread deplorable depictions of child sexual abuse,” said Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.  “These sentences affirm that layers of anonymity on the dark web will not prevent the Department of Justice from identifying and holding accountable those who exploit children.”
“The sentences imposed on these despicable individuals should insure that they never have another opportunity to abuse another child,” said U.S. Attorney Don Cochran for the Middle District of Tennessee.  “With all that we have, we will continue to hunt down the evil and abominable like-minded individuals who delight in abusing children and will bring them to justice.”
In July 2015, Falte created a website called the “Giftbox Exchange” as a Tor hidden service, meaning it could only be accessed by users through the Tor anonymity network.  Falte paid for the operation of the site using the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.  He acted as the lead administrator of the site and established rules that required users to upload and share images and videos depicting pre-teen children being sexually abused before they could access the site.
The site was organized into different forums for posting different types of child pornography, categorized by age range of the minor victims — including a sub forum for “Babies & Toddlers.”  At the time the site was shut down in November 2016, it had over 72,000 registered users and 56,000 posts.  In addition to operating the site on the Tor network—which masks the internet protocol addresses of the users — Falte and his co-conspirators used other advanced technological means to thwart law enforcement efforts, including file encryption and cryptography.
Faulkner joined the Giftbox Exchange in September 2015 and also became an administrator of the site.  In addition to his administration of Giftbox Exchange, he created and administered another Tor network-based hidden service website dedicated to child sexual exploitation, which grew to host over 200,000 users.  Faulkner also created and administered a separate Tor hidden service reserved for producers of child pornography.  Leslie, in addition to his membership on the Giftbox Exchange, himself ran yet another Tor network-based hidden service website, which explicitly allowed images and videos depicting graphic and violent sexual abuse of children.  Bedusek, who has a prior federal conviction for receipt of child pornography and engaged in activity on Giftbox Exchange while on federal supervised release for that offense, was a VIP member of Giftbox Exchange which gave him access to a special area of the site, and a moderator on one of the hidden services created by Faulkner.
In addition to running an online network dedicated to child sexual exploitation, Falte and Faulkner were sentenced in September 2017 to life imprisonment by Judge John A. Gibney, Jr., of the Eastern District of Virginia, in connection with their sexual abuse of a toddler-aged minor to whom they gained access through an individual they met through the Giftbox Exchange.  They traveled to abuse that minor on multiple occasions.  Faulkner also separately traveled to Texas and sexually abused a toddler and produced child pornography of an infant.  In March 2018, Leslie was sentenced to 60 years of imprisonment to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis of the Middle District of Florida, in connection with his sexual abuse and production of child pornography involving multiple children, including an infant and a toddler.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the High Technology Investigative Unit of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS).  CEOS Trial Attorney Lauren E. Britsch and Assistant U.S. Attorneys S. Carran Daughtrey and Byron M. Jones of the Middle District of Tennessee prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.  For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.

Michigan Auditor General Begins Its Dark Decent Into The Christian World Of Trafficking Tiny Humans

Child marriage, the old name for child porn

m
This investigation in not limited to the nasty things priests were doing to tiny humans, this is about the culture, the patterns, the rituals of fraud.

This investigation is about the child welfare contracts.

The Michigan Auditor General is about to present the next report on the Child Placing Agencies, which I guarantee, is going to be uglier than the Child Protective Services audit.

The Auditor General is parsimoniously honing down to the extent of Medicaid fraud in child welfare, along with many other nasty things that go along side with the trafficking of tiny humans.

This investigation is not limited to Michigan, it is international, but I will tell you one thing, it all started here in Michigan and it always starts with child welfare because no one cares.

Accused priest works as contract psychologist for state

A Catholic priest who was stripped of his priestly faculties in early October also works for the state as a contract psychologist.

Dr. Robert Gerl works with the state’s disability determination service out of a Kalamazoo office, said Bob Wheaton, a spokesman for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The department's understanding is that the psychologist working for the department is the same Gerl whose priestly faculties were revoked by the Diocese of Lansing for credible allegations of sexual assault of an adult male alleged to have occurred decades ago, Wheaton said. The department was looking into the claims, which it learned of through media reports, he said.

Gerl does not work directly with patients in his role with the state, Wheaton said.

Randall Levine, Gerl’s lawyer, urged people not to rush to judgment regarding his client. In a statement, Levine said he was sure Gerl would be vindicated of the allegation of “inappropriate conduct that is supposed to have occurred more than 35 years ago.”

“This is the only person who has ever complained about Mr. Gerl,” Levine said. “He has enjoyed a lifetime of honorable service to the church as a priest, the schools as a counselor and in the community as a respected therapist.”

Gerl declined comment when contacted last week by The Detroit News.

Gerl has no direct contact with state clients, Wheaton said, noting that his contract involves reviewing paper documents to discern whether a person is eligible to receive disability or Social Security benefits. He’s been employed by the state since July 2016.

Gerl has had his full license to practice psychology since 2011, though he worked with a limited license prior to that while completing school, according to state records. The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has said it is reviewing the allegations "reported in recent news stories involving this individual."

The Diocese of Lansing removed Gerl’s permission to publicly minister in the diocese on Oct. 5, a couple days after the diocese surrendered its files to Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office as part of an ongoing investigation into clergy sex abuse and potential cover-ups dating back to the 1950s in Michigan’s seven dioceses.

Andrea Bitely, a spokeswoman for Schuette's office, said she could not comment on any details of Schuette's investigation into the dioceses.

The investigation was launched after a grand jury investigation in Pennsylvania revealed hundreds of abuser priests who molested more than 1,000 children since the 1940s. Schuette’s office has asked any victims or people with information about alleged incidents to contact investigators at Michigan.gov/CI or at (844) 324-3374.

Gerl is a senior priest who has not been assigned to a parish in a number of years, Diocese of Lansing spokesman Michael Diebold said last week. He was unable to provide details of Gerl’s work for the diocese because his was one of the files Schuette’s office took on Oct. 3.

Online church bulletins indicate Gerl filled in at churches in the Lansing area as recently as June.
Following Lansing’s announcement, the Diocese of Kalamazoo issued its own statement saying that Gerl had also served in Kalamazoo. He worked at Nazareth College from 1986 to 1991, at St. Thomas More Parish in Kalamazoo from 1997 to 2000, and at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Portage from 2000 to 2009.

State records indicate Gerl was placed on temporary probation in 2006 because he allegedly was referring to himself as a doctor before being granted a doctoral degree in psychology. The incident was alleged to have occurred while he worked as a school psychologist at the intermediate school district in Allegan County. In 2010, he was again cited for failing to meet regularly with a supervisor during his post-doctoral work.

Gerl worked as a school psychologist for Allegan Area Educational Service Agency from 2000 to 2011, according to Tom Scheidel, a spokesman for the agency. He worked at the Hillside Learning and Behavior Center, "a school for special needs students that serves pre-school through age 26."
"As with all AAESA employees, Mr. Gerl passed a background check prior to his employment. He left AAESA in 2011 of his own accord to pursue a different job opportunity," Scheidel said in a statement.

Santorum Promises Broad War on Porn

Please take notice of all the "family rights" groups in support of this.  Individuals have rights, not families because the term "family" has never been statutorily codified.

These "family rights" groups consider the definition of a family to be a married man and woman.  Anything else is unacceptable and considered child abuse.

So here you have it.  The first presidential campaign to violate the First Amendment right of free speech and the Commerce Clause.

Santorum Promises Broad War on Porn

Rick Santorum
The Daily Caller flags a little-discussed position paper on Rick Santorum’s campaign website—his pledge to aggressively prosecute those who produce and distribute pornography. Santorum avers that “America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography.” He pledges to use the resources of the Department of Justice to fight that “pandemic,” by bringing obscenity prosecutions against pornographers.

I would note that this is very different from what the Bush Administration did. The Bush DOJ did establish an Obscenity Prosecution Task Force in 2005, but this body focused on bringing prosecutions against small-time producers who made porn with extreme content. (Even so, it faced significant pushback from U.S. Attorneys, some of whom viewed such prosecutions as a distraction and a misuse of resources.) Many social conservative groups were disappointed with the task force, contending that more mainstream hardcore porn violates obscenity laws, and they urged the Bush Administration to bring obscenity cases against major producers.

Santorum promises that he would do exactly this. His statement references going after pornography that is distributed not just on the Internet, but also “on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV.” Perhaps I am not staying in the most interesting hotels, but my impression is that porn distributed through such channels is almost definitionally not extreme. Santorum’s statement also touts his work on this issue with “groups including Morality in Media, Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, American Family Association”—many of which were among the groups calling on the Bush Administration to prosecute mainstream porn producers in 2007. And he says he “proudly support[s] the efforts of the War on Illegal Pornography Coalition,” which advocates the use of obscenity laws against mainstream porn.

Some of Santorum’s defenders have taken the tack of separating his personal views from his policy views. Santorum thinks contraception is “not OK” and he has announced his intention to use the bully pulpit to discuss “the dangers of contraception.” But he doesn’t think contraception should be illegal, and he voted for Title X contraception subsidies (though he said in a recent debate that he opposes Title X, despite voting for it.) On pornography, though, Santorum’s views can’t be written off as purely personal—he has stated a clear intent to use the levers of government to stop adults from making and watching porn.
