When Rashida Tlaib & Her DNC Reparations Stealin' Talking Points Go Horribly Wrong

"Will Prince Archie get a reparations check, too?"
FOX 2, or anyone with a camera rolling, should ask Rashida, "What is your measurement used to determine if someone is African-American."

That should be fun.

Will there be any due process to challenge being omitted from this reparations check classed based animus?

I will ask her.

After all, she is the best person to represent African-Americans when it comes to discrimination of due process.

Gotta have an operationalized tool of measurement when it comes to handing out those reparations economic development contracts.

TARP ran out, you know.

Then, there is that pesky issue with identifying individuals who are not formally recognized as U.S. citizens, or have multiple identities, or victims of child trafficking, or are brought as foreign political operatives....oh, the list of legally established measurable variables goes on and on for those privatized local governments known as sanctuary cities.

Which foreign corporation is the administrator of record of the data?

DPD Chief Craig outraged at Rashida Tlaib's race remarks

DETROIT (FOX 2) - Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib told Chief James Craig on Monday that analysts who work with the facial recognition software should be African-American only.

It is something Tlaib, a lawyer, later told FOX 2 wouldn't even be legal to hire someone solely on race.

Chief James Craig is not mincing words.

On Monday Tlaib said in a Detroit News online video: "Also, analysts need to be African-Americans, not people that are not. No, it happens all the time, it is true. I think non-African-Americans think African-Americans all look the same."

Craig responded in that video saying, "I trust people who are trained. Regardless of race, regardless of gender."

FOX 2: "Are her comments racist?"

"I think they are racist, I don't know (if) we can call it what we want," Craig said Wednesday.

Chief James Craig is not mincing words after showing how the hotly debated facial recognition technology works to the congresswoman who has been adamantly against it.

Her concerns are regarding the reliability in identifying people of color.

"The facial recognition software is racist in itself," Tlaib said.

The Detroit News was rolling when Tlaib said analysts who work to identify potential criminals with the software should be African American…not, non-African American.

"It's a double standard," Craig said. "Certainly as the police chief of this city, if I had made a similar comment, people would be outraged and they would be calling for my resignation."

FOX 2: "Do you wish you would have said it differently?"

"I'm trying to say it needs to be reflective and if you look at the video I think you can see I'm trying to respectfully disagree," Tlaib said.

Tlaib cited several studies for support on how people of one race identify another.

"The science supports what I'm saying," Tlaib said.

FOX 2: "I'm not asking what the science is saying I'm asking what you're saying?"

"I repeated what the science said," Tlaib said. "I think if you talk, not just to me ... "

FOX 2: "The science says that black analysts should be hired?"

"No," she said. "It says there are mistaken people that cannot identify African-Americans, no, no, no, it's okay, we aren't going to get into an argument about this.

"Please ask African-Americans in my district."

Craig says the software is one tool for investigators and although it isn't 100 percent accurate, trained analysts fill in the gaps.

"I'm not even going to try and understand why the comments were made," Craig said. "Let's just simply say it was improper, it wasn't right and we should be talking about other things."

Tlaib says many of her constituents are against facial recognition - that's why she has been so outspoken. She is actually behind two bills to ban the technology and prevent the cameras from going into public housing.

JUDICIARY: NADLER & LOFGREN STATEMENT ON AG SESSIONS’ LAWSUIT AGAINST CALIFORNIA’S SANCTUARY LAWS

Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) today released a joint statement with Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), on Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ lawsuit against California’s sanctuary laws:

“Attorney General Sessions is again attacking local communities who disagree with his anti-immigrant agenda. We strongly condemn the DOJ’s decision to sue the State of California and we oppose their attempt to intervene in the affairs of local governance. The Department of Justice’s decision to sue the state of California demonstrates just how far President Trump is willing to go to implement his extremist, mass deportation campaign promise.  This is not about public safety — no reputable study has found that sanctuary cities have more crime.  This is about fear mongering and hate.”

CONYERS Floor Statement In Opposition Of H.R. 3003, "No Sanctuary for Criminals Act"

On June 29, 2017, the House considered and passed H.R. 3003, No Sanctuary for Criminals Act.

This bill will trample the rights of states and localities to determine what is in the best interest of their public safety and will conscript local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration law.

The ultimate experts on community safety are communities themselves.

And hundreds of them have determined that as community trust increases, crime decreases.

This is because immigrants will come out of the shadows and report crimes to local law enforcement when they are not threatened with deportation.

In fact, a recent study found that community trust jurisdictions are actually safer than their counterparts.

Against this considered judgment, H.R. 3003 forces localities to abandon community trust principles and mandates the conscription of local officers into federal immigration enforcement.

Some localities, of course, would rightfully resist this conscription.

As punishment, H.R. 3003 would rob them of vital law enforcement funding that they depend on to prevent crime, prosecute criminals, and boost community policing ranks.

Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. Opening Statement: Hearing on “Sanctuary Cities: a Threat to Public Safety”

Dean of the U.S. House
of Representatives
John Conyers, Jr.
“I want to start by offering my sincere condolences to the Steinle family — who lost their daughter just three weeks ago — and to Sheriff Jones — who lost one of his deputies last Fall.  You have our deepest sympathies and your losses are on each of our minds.  Your presence here today is very much appreciated.
“I also want to say how unfortunate it is that we are having this important hearing only a few hours before we head to the Floor to vote on a bill that deals with this very issue.  The lack of Committee process and regular order breaks the commitment made to this body by the Majority Leader and will lead to a less informed debate on this critical topic.
“The decision to rush H.R. 3009 to the Floor without any Committee process is not the only evidence we have that the Majority has already made up its mind on this topic.  The pejorative title of this hearing demonstrates their belief that so-called “sanctuary cities” are a “threat to public safety.
“I disagree with that conclusion for several reasons.
“To begin with, numerous studies prove that communities which have adopted community trust ‘policies' are not less safe than other communities.
“In fact, studies show that crime rates actually decrease in communities after they adopt such policies.
“Further, these studies find that strong-arm policies – such as Secure Communities – fail to lower crime rates.  Instead, they can make communities less safe because residents become more fearful and therefore less likely to report criminal activity.
“Clearly, every law enforcement agency wants its community to be safe and every police officer’s goal is to implement the best policy to protect the people they are sworn to serve.
“To suggest that local law enforcement officials are pursuing policies that make their communities less safe is simply false and offensive.
“Second, I know that each of us opposes violent crime and wants to do what we can to prevent tragedies like the ones we will hear about today.
“Nevertheless, in our zeal to achieve this goal, we must consider solutions that actually are effective and not rule out options based on any predisposition.
“To that end, we should consider the recommendations of law enforcement itself.  The Major Cities Chiefs Association, for instance, opposes federal proposals that would “undermine the trust and cooperation between police officers and immigrant communities, which are essential elements of community-oriented policing.”
“The Association explains that such “measures would result in fear and distrust of local police, damaging our efforts to prevent crime and weakening our ability to apprehend those who prey upon the public.”
“Federal legislative proposals such as H.R. 3009 which is on the Floor today would do just that.  It would erode community trust and make it harder for local law enforcement to fight crime in their jurisdictions.
“Finally, if we are looking for real solutions, we should be undertaking real comprehensive immigration reform.
“An immigration reform bill – such as the measure that passed the Senate in 2013 or the bill that had 201 House cosponsors in the last Congress – would allow law-abiding immigrants to come out of the shadows and get right with the law.  As a result, it would enable Immigration and Customs Enforcement to focus its resources on deporting the worst elements.
“That kind of solution would help ensure that our entire community, citizens and immigrants alike, are protected from harm.
“Accordingly, I look forward to hearing from our witnesses and I yield the balance of my time.”
