Cocktails & Popcorn: The #coloredrevolution Has Hit Benton Harbor, Michigan - David Bullock Has Been Activated

He was on the show Preachers of Detroit.
An activist throughout the city of Detroit, Pastor David Bullock has an outspoken, engaging personality that has established himself as a media sensation with a loyal fan base. Relishing in his reputation and driven by a sense of purpose, he is known for having a Bible in one hand and a bullhorn in the other. Although he plans to run for office in hopes of making substantial changes to the city, Pastor Bullock’s first love is practicing ministry as the leader of the Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church.
Not afraid to speak his mind, Pastor Bullock’s name has often been seen in the news for organizing sit-ins, marches, and political rallies. He always puts his work first and spends much of his time reading and educating himself. Pastor Bullock is a philosopher, musician and currently an eligible bachelor.
Jesse Jackson kicked him out the Rainbow Coalition, you know.

It is just one of those "colored" revolution thangs you do when you know your dirt is about to come out of what you did in the 2016 election...or maybe not...but hey, what do I know?

WARNING: GRAPHIC COLORED REVOLUTION LANGUAGE ADVISED

He was also very mean to my Sweetie, and so was his girlfriend who used to send him lots of confidential federal information to do stuff like interfere with elections, and anything else they could hustle a dollar, but that is another tale to unfold.

I also know for the right price, he will do just about anything.

Anyway, meet the National Action Network, not to be confused with the NACCP and the launch of the #coloredrevolution.

I told you Gretchen was going to be thrown under the bus before she was elected by the Action Network.

I am so prescient.

Benton Harbor Schools ‘urgently requesting’ that Gov. Whitmer reconsider plan

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.—Benton Harbor Area Schools officials have written an open letter to Governor Gretchen Whitmer “urgently requesting” that she appear in person at the June 4 public meeting regarding the proposed plan to close Benton Harbor's high schools.

The state met with officials from Benton Harbor on Friday to discuss the plan that recommends the closing of Benton Harbor High School and the alternative high school so that the district can focus on students in K-8th grade.

In the proposed plan, Benton Harbor High School and the alternative high school would close as of the 2020-2021 school year.

The school board issued the following open letter to Governor Whitmer, with an urgent request for her to attend the June 4 meeting in person, which is open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m. in the Benton Harbor High School Student Commons.

Letter to Governor Whitmer written by the Benton Harbor Area Schools Board (BHAS):

Dear Governor Whitmer –

We respectfully and urgently request that you visit Benton Harbor in person to meet in an Open
Public Meeting with the community and the elected School Board trustees regarding the future of
Benton Harbor High School and the K-12 District as a whole.

The School Board is hosting an Open Public Meeting at the Benton Harbor High School Student
Commons on Tuesday June 4 at 6pm. We would love to host you and let you hear the full story.

Hopefully you are aware that representatives from your office, Treasury and the Department of
Education are claiming that, on your behalf, a unilateral decision has been made to close Benton
Harbor High School in 2020. The Board was told by your representatives that a decision was made
by your office to intentionally exclude the elected School Board trustees and exclude open
community input from the decision-making process. Honestly, we are completely shocked and
dismayed by this action. Our Board has been working in good faith with both Treasury and
Education to address issues at BHAS including an outline for a new Strategic Plan, submitted to
Treasury, but upon which your departments have taken no action.

We also want to openly confront the many “elephants in the room” that neither your staff nor the
news media have addressed:

• The land upon which the Benton Harbor High School sits with its athletic fields and adjacent
School Board properties are the LAST MAJOR UNDEVELOPED WATERFRONT PROPERTIES in
Berrien County, Michigan. Is this just a coincidence, given that your office just told our
Board representatives on 5/24/19 that your plan to close Benton Harbor High School has
major (but unnamed) supporters in the nearby business community?

• The Draft Plan from your office is explicitly a transfer of wealth from an overwhelmingly poor
and black community (Benton Harbor) to nearby white, more affluent communities. Under
your Plan, that transfer of wealth will occur through the loss by Benton Harbor of its school
facilities and use of school land, transfer of state funding from Benton Harbor to the
adjacent nine school districts where you plan Benton Harbor students to be redistributed,
and loss of jobs for local teachers and staff of all levels.

• The contention by representatives of your office that hiring a single staff person to act as a
“Cultural Dean” to smooth over “discomfort” that the displaced 700 black students might
feel when transported out of their community to predominantly white schools is an
appalling insult to our youth and the community. Such insensitivity to the painful history of
racial segregation, unsuccessful past desegregation efforts, and continued State-sponsored
dis-investment in Benton Harbor calls for a swift and strong response.

We call upon you to meet with us – to hear the students voices and the expertise of our teachers.
We call upon you to fulfill your 2018 campaign promises to support public schools, especially in
high-poverty communities, to fight urban poverty, and to hold government accountable.

BHAS needs balanced, constructive leadership from you, your office and all State agencies.
We need complete transparency. We need State and local leaders to stop sensationalizing limited
facts about Benton Harbor in the media and on the Michigan.gov website created by your office to
promote your Plan to close Benton Harbor High School. Our community needs to feel that our
youth are respected, valued and worth meaningful investment so that they may achieve their
tremendous potential. The students, their families, our teachers, and our community deserve that.

Sincerely, Steve Mitchell, Trustee and Board President
Joseph Taylor, Trustee and Board Vice-President
Patricia Rush, Trustee and Board Secretary
Denise Whatley-Seats, Trustee and Board Treasurer

Cocktails & Popcorn: Detroit Police Department Public Private Partnerships With LLCs

What were they doing with those auto parts they stripped from cars?

I do not know but I have provided relevant background with the Hamtramck complaint, below, to generate plausible assumptions for rule out.

But hey, what do I know?

I know there is much more coming.

Feds charge Detroit collision shop owner with bribing cops in alleged insurance scheme

Detroit — Federal authorities for the first time have publicly named the man who allegedly bribed Detroit police officers in one of several alleged illegal towing schemes being investigated in Metro Detroit.

Danial Dabish, owner of Livernois Collision, was charged March 1 with mail fraud in a criminal information, which indicates a guilty plea is expected.

The U.S. District Court filing alleges Dabish “would submit inflated and fraudulent claims for automobile repairs purportedly performed at the shop to automotive insurance companies.”

The government further alleges in the four-page filing that Dabish bribed Detroit cops to funnel abandoned or stolen vehicles to his shop.

The March 1 charges were refiled by the U.S. Department of Justice; a criminal complained filed Jan. 24 contained allegations about four alleged schemes that weren't included in the March 1 document.

"Those earlier charges were dismissed; the refiled information has fewer charges," Dabish's attorney Steve Haney said. He declined further comment.

Three Detroit police sources told The Detroit News in 2017 that the alleged Livernois Collision scheme involved paying cops to route stolen vehicles with minimal damage to the shop. The vehicles would be stripped, and Livernois officials would then bill insurance companies to replace the parts, collect the money, and put the original parts back onto the cars.

According to the March 1 filing, "It was ... part of the scheme that the inflated, false and fraudulent claims for automotive repairs purportedly performed at the shop would contain materially false statements pertaining to the nature of the covered damages to the vehicles and the cost and nature of the replacement parts used in the repairs.

"it was further part of the scheme that, in processing these false claims, and to further the above-described scheme, Dabish sent documents to insurance companies using the U.S. Postal Service, and caused the insurance companies, to whom the false claims were made, to send payments, in the form of checks, by United States mail to the shop and their customers," the filing said.

"In order to initially get the vehicles subject to false claims into the shop, Dabish paid some Detroit Police Officers, including ... Deonne Dotson, money in exchange for their agreement to be influenced and rewarded in their official capacities as police officers to direct the towing of damaged or abandoned vehicles to the defendant's collision shop for repair," according to the filing." <=== That is hot and that is what I call a "Public Private Partnership".

Federal authorities allege that on April 23, 2014, Dabish "caused Auto-Owners Insurance Company to send, using the United States Postal Service, two checks in the amount of $3,273.64 to a vehicle owner, whose initials are L.S., who then brought the check to Dabish at his direction," the filing said.

"The check represented payment for a fraudulently inflated insurance claim that Dabish had submitted pursuant to the scheme."

Dotson is scheduled to stand trial April 29. Five other officers who were part of the scheme pleaded guilty to extortion last year.

Livernois Collision, along with Detroit companies Sam's Tires and M&M Cars, were the plaintiffs in earlier federal lawsuits alleging officers in the now-disbanded COBRA stolen car task force conducted illegal raids on the businesses and their owners’ homes, improperly seized their property, and hurled anti-Arab slurs at them.

One of the lawsuits was filed against imprisoned towing magnate Gasper Fiore, Hamtramck and Highland Park, police officers in those cities, B&G Towing of Detroit and its owner Anthony Thomas. The suit alleges the cops launched false investigations that allowed the tow company to impound vehicles and charge exorbitant storage fees.

Although Thomas, not Fiore, is listed as the owner of B&G Towing, Haney said Fiore was the shadow owner of the company. In the lawsuit, Fiore is called a "principle" of B&G.

Why Children Go Into Foster Care In Detroit - The Work Of "The Elected Ones"

This is what happens every day across the nation.

This is how the disabled live.

I hope she did not come out the foster care system.

This is how the foster care agencies keep their doors open.

Then they lie in the courts and in federal filings of cost reimbursements to Medicaid.

There is the Child Protective Service worker, the Guardian Ad Litem for the children, the Magistrate, the Child Placing Agency, the case worker, the case manager, the supervisor, the director.

There will be therapy, counseling, psychotropics.

There will be new pilot programs, with new reunification terminology, that she will not pass the classes.

Her SSI payments for her children will be suspended and intercepted by the State.

She will fall deeper into poverty.

There will be a breakdown that one day she misses her bus to take her back across town to services and or that precious one hour visitation with her children just because she lost her bus pass.

The case will remain open for six months, where there is only hope a worker will find her another place of quality and affordability, which would not be in Detroit because there is no Section 8 Housing.

This is what is called sustainability.

This is what you call forced migration.

This is what you call gerrymandering.

This is what you call the work of the "Legal Geniuses" (trademark pending).

This is the work of "The Elected Ones" because they are going to keep a paycheck and look good.

 - A Highland Park woman faced losing her children over the condition of her house after she had issues getting her landlord to fix it up.

You may remember a house on Orleans Street on the Detroit/Highland Park border. FOX 2 was out there in October because the ceiling caved in. The landlord fixed that, but now there are other problems.

"A big picture window being broken out, holes in the floor and problems with rodents, namely a squirrel in the attic," said attorney Tracey M. Martin.

What's worse now is that the Department of Health and Human Services is threatening to take away Shawndale's three children, ages 15, 5, and 4, because the house is not safe. The owner says the broken window is the fault of the "They are alleging that they're backing away from any responsibility," Martin said.

"I didn't break no window. I went to church one Sunday and came back to my window broke," Shawndale said.

Generally, repairs such as a window would be the responsibility of the landlord. FOX 2 contacted the landlord as did the lawyer and window glass was delivered -- although the window has to be installed. But what about those squirrels?

When FOX 2 was there, squirrel traps were being set. The tenant was planning on doing the work and withholding the rent in an escrow account until a judge decides.

In a letter, the landlord says the tenant is not authorized to do any work on the window or withhold the rent.

Shawndale is behind about $1,700 in rent. Her attorney says that she is eligible for state emergency relief because she is low income and has children and that should take care of the back rent.

"She may very well be going into another property if these issues are not remedied with this current property owner," Martin said.

Cocktails & Popcorn: Detroit FBI Wiretaps Are Everywhere - Which City Is Next?

Which city is next?

FBI agents wiretapped towing titan Gasper Fiore's phone three years ago and heard allegations involving Taylor Mayor Rick Sollars and a lucrative towing contract, according to sealed court records that hint at the possible roots of a new corruption investigation.

Gasper Fiore
An FBI wiretap affidavit obtained by The News in 2017 that included probable cause to keep listening to Fiore's phone calls gained new relevance in light of a series of FBI raids Tuesday at Sollars' homes and Taylor City Hall.

"The benefit of a wiretap is people are willing to speak freely and investigators pick up information about other possible cases and learn things they’d never thought of,” Peter Henning, a Wayne State University law professor and former federal prosecutor, said Wednesday.

In 2016, FBI agents were investigating public corruption and targeting more than a dozen politicians and businessmen, including Fiore and Detroit Councilman Gabe Leland.

In May 2016, Fiore spoke during one wiretapped conversation to a man named Nicholas Primus. Primus described a recent lunch with the Taylor mayor, according to the wiretap affidavit.

During the lunch conversation, Sollars referenced a municipal contract to tow vehicles in Taylor, according to FBI Special Agent Robert Beeckman, who summarized contents of the conversation.
"Apparently, the mayor is leaving it up to (a businessman) and Fiore to work out who is the municipal tower for Taylor," Beeckman wrote in the wiretap affidavit.

The FBI wiretap affidavit was temporarily unsealed in federal court in December 2017 and obtained by The News before it was resealed.

Sollars has not been charged with wrongdoing.

“I will continue to work hard on behalf of the residents of city of Taylor to make sure the people’s work gets done,” he said Tuesday. “I ask that you please respect my family’s privacy and the integrity of this investigation.”

Sollars met with defense attorney Todd Flood following the raids Tuesday but it was unclear if the mayor has retained defense counsel.

Flood could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Fiore, 58, the former owner of Boulevard and Trumbull Towing who prosecutors dubbed the "Baron of Bribery," was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison in August for bribing politicians while building a lucrative towing empire across Metro Detroit.

Tow king Fiore sentenced to 21 months in prison

He is cooperating with an ongoing federal corruption investigation and could receive a sentencing adjustment. The extent of Fiore's cooperation, and whether he told investigators anything about Sollars, is a secret but is outlined in a sealed federal court filing that Henning said should concern others linked to an ongoing probe.

“It’s to Fiore’s advantage to cooperate if he can point fingers,” Henning said.

The searches at Taylor City Hall and at Sollars’ homes Tuesday indicates the corruption investigation is at an advanced stage, Henning said.

“They don’t want to build a case just on Fiore. That’s why they conduct searches,” Henning said.

“Documents would back him up and help establish his credibility because he’s an admitted felon.”

Fiore's lawyer did not respond to a message seeking comment Wednesday.

Cocktails & Popcorn: Michigan Emergency Manager, Police & Voting Rights Are A Messy Mix

classic film drinking GIF
"Oh, this is going to be messy."
Do you know why I am just going to go wild and sip on a bit of shiraz for this one?

Every single one of these cities were under the authority of the Michigan Emergency Manager Law.

See, I am going to put it like this, just because I know the characters in this particular tale, they are feasting upon their own flesh because these municipal law enforcement jurisdictions have no clue of what is going on because no one told them anything for the simple fact that everyone was under an Emergency Manager, appointed by the Governor, advised by the Michigan Department of Treasury who was doing Andy.

Anyway, I was really waiting for something to come up about their public auctions or funding political campaigns.

I remember COBRA used to be busy, busy, busy doing lots of community outreach in Hamtramck.

I also know there is much more to the story because the article below, is true, trust me, I know.

The same thing that they were doing with Property Deeds is what they were doing to Vehicle Titles because it all started in child welfare.

For your viewing pleasure, I have left a report of a House Judiciary Report by the Democratic Committee Staff on the Emergency Manger Law just because I would like everyone to pay attention to the names of authority on that report, then, I want you to envision me sipping my shiraz while this plays out because this is going to get really messy.

You do know police are part of a city's election commission, unless a state and city puts up a "Legal Genius" (trademark pending) as one of those "attorney-client privileges" messy-messies.

FUN FACT! KEVYN ORR CAME OUT OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA AND ADVOCATED FOR VOTING RIGHTS

Detroit area police accuse each other of wrongdoing

Mike Moore
City of Ecorse Police Chief
Michael Moore
Meanwhile, Detroit assistant chief James White sent a memo last year to Highland Park's police chief, claiming an officer also was improperly logging stolen cars into the LEIN system. Highland Park officials have not commented on the allegation.

The three police departments worked together, along with Hamtramck, as part of the COBRA stolen car task force until the unit disbanded last year, following complaints by Detroit officials about how cops in Ecorse and Highland Park processed stolen vehicles.

Similar issues are raised in a Wayne County Circuit Court lawsuit filed by Ecorse officer Cornelius Herring, who alleges he was subjected to a hostile work environment for exposing the alleged wrongdoing by fellow Ecorse officers.

Herring says the officers did not alert citizens that their vehicles had been stolen, which allowed the vehicles to become Ecorse's property, to be auctioned off and then purchased by Ecorse officials. The city's police chief and mayor acknowledge they bought two of those vehicles for private use, although the chief and the city's attorney insist there was nothing improper about the transactions.

Ecorse Sgt. Geoffrey Howard also told his superior officers about the alleged LEIN improprieties, according to correspondence between attorneys and city officials. Although Howard also has filed a lawsuit claiming he was mistreated by department officials, the LEIN charges aren't included in his complaint, which alleges racial discrimination over how a coworker's social media post was handled.
Moore told The Detroit News he looked into the claims by Herring and Howard and found nothing wrong.

Moore also said Craig told him and other Ecorse police officials during a meeting in Ecorse police headquarters last year that they were improperly processing stolen vehicles.

"At that meeting, (Craig) started telling everyone they were doing things illegally," Moore said. "Someone tapped him on the shoulder and said, 'let's go out for a minute.' Then, when he came back, he backpedaled on everything he said. I don't know what was said outside the room, but he clearly realized he was out of bounds by saying we were doing illegal things."

Craig called Moore's account "nonsense."

"I would have never came out and told him that — especially if I thought they were involved in criminality," Craig said. "If I thought they were doing something illegal, I would've taken that to the FBI.

"Did I possibly say I had some concerns? I may have, but I don't even remember that," he said. "I dispute these allegations. I don't know what (Moore) is talking about."

Moore also claimed Parish last year asked Ecorse officers to give more work to Fiore's tow firms.

"There were tow companies that were getting kickbacks, and they were upset that our officers weren't using those companies enough," Moore said. "(Parish) was here on behalf of (former Detroit police civilian deputy chief and department attorney) Celia Washington.

He wanted us to use (Fiore's) tow companies more often."

Washington was sentenced in April to a year in prison for taking bribes from Fiore, who also was convicted by federal authorities last year in a widespread corruption case.

Parish insisted his discussion with Ecorse police was about his investigation into how Ecorse officers weren't properly entering stolen vehicles into the LEIN system.

"There were several issues with how information was being put into LEIN by Ecorse officers," Parish said. "So I went there trying to get more information about their practices."

Parish said the notion that he would advocate for Fiore is "ridiculous," and pointed out that he testified against Fiore before the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners and in federal court, advocating for Fiore's companies to be banned from the Detroit police towing rotation.

The department in May adopted Parish's recommendation, suspending six tow companies city officials said were affiliated with Fiore, who was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for taking bribes in Macomb County.

Moore said he was concerned about Parish's visit. "We brought this to the feds and Michigan State Police," he said.

FBI spokesman Mara Schneider declined to comment. Michigan State Police spokeswoman Shanon Banner said Ecorse officials asked about LEIN procedures, but that no specific allegations of wrongdoing were made.

"We checked with our detectives in Metro Detroit and no one has awareness of this matter," Banner said.

Ecorse police officers Herring and Howard in July brought separate lawsuits against the city of Ecorse, Mayor Lamar Tidwell and Moore. Herring's lawsuit says he was demoted from sergeant to officer in part because he “exposed Moore and a coworker for violation of LEIN procedures, possibly being a criminal offense."

Moore and city attorney Charles Wycoff insist the lawsuits are baseless, saying there were legitimate reasons for punishing both officers.

"These are two employees who are disgruntled because they were being disciplined," Moore said. "That's all this is. They both have a long record of disciplinary issues."

Barry Keller, attorney for Herring and Howard, said: "This isn't disgruntled employees. According to my client (Herring), stolen cars weren't being properly entered into the LEIN system."

According to Herring, the alleged scheme involved officers manipulating the LEIN system to hide recovered stolen vehicles from their owners until they became Ecorse property. The vehicles were listed in the system as abandoned, not stolen, and the owners were never notified, Herring said.

Under Michigan law, if the owner of an abandoned vehicle doesn't respond within 20 days after it's towed, the vehicles become property of the police department that oversaw their recovery. The vehicles are then scrapped, retained by the police department or auctioned off.

Herring said Ecorse's police chief and mayor ended up driving stolen vehicles that were towed from other jurisdictions and not properly entered into LEIN. Moore and Wycoff insisted the vehicles — the chief's 2010 Nissan Armada and the mayor's 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer — were legitimately purchased.

Oakland University criminal justice professor Daniel Kennedy said officials purchasing vehicles that were confiscated in their own jurisdiction opens up questions of impropriety.

"My opinion is that (police and city officials) should try to avoid even the appearance of impropriety," Kennedy said. "The most important thing would be to make sure the (officials) had no advantage over other citizens in being able to bid for those vehicles, and that it was an open process."
Moore said a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, which was stolen in Detroit in 2016, kicked off the allegations about LEIN misuse.

"The issue which created this whole thing was one of our officers, (Cpl.) Kevin Barkman, recovered a vehicle in Detroit and put it in LEIN through the city of Ecorse," Moore said. "(Herring and Howard) are trying to say it was illegal for Barkman to put that car into LEIN using the Ecorse ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number, because the vehicle was recovered in Detroit."

Moore acknowledged the stolen Escalade was initially logged into the LEIN system as an abandoned vehicle.

"Cpl. Barkman didn't have a report that the vehicle had been stolen," Moore said. "He found it on cement blocks with the window knocked out, so he listed it as abandoned. The Detroit ORI wasn't used because Barkman is deputized as a Wayne County sheriff, so he has countywide jurisdiction."

The SUV eventually was returned to the Detroit woman who owned it — "but the tow company (B&G Towing in Detroit, which has ties to Fiore, according to Detroit police) never told us the owner had picked it up," Moore said. "If they had, we'd have taken it out of LEIN immediately."

Six months later, the SUV was stolen a second time from in front of the woman's house on Detroit's east side, Moore said.

"The woman went to the Detroit precinct to report her vehicle was stolen, but the Detroit sergeant was unable to put it into LEIN as a stolen vehicle because it was still in our system as a recovered vehicle," Moore said. "The Detroit police sergeant called us and said the vehicle was still listed in the LEIN system as an abandoned vehicle."

Moore said Herring refused the Detroit sergeant's request to remove the vehicle from LEIN, for which he was charged with neglect of duty and insubordination, and demoted. His case is pending. Howard was reprimanded for smoking in the police station.

Flat Rock attorney David Grunow was retained by Ecorse to look into the allegations made by Herring and Howard. In a Feb. 23, 2018, letter to Wycoff, Grunow wrote that he'd interviewed the two officers about their claims.

Grunow's letter says Moore investigated the allegations of LEIN abuse "and found no justification for the complaint ... and found that there was insufficient evidence to discipline Cpl. Barkman."

Detroit police officials also have had problems with how Highland Park Cpl. James McMahon used the LEIN system. In a June 28, 2017, memo to Highland Park Police Chief Chester Logan, White, Detroit's assistant chief, wrote: "McMahon was not using the ... stolen vehicle recovery notification as required by ... LEIN.

"Several vehicle recovery notifications were being sent by Administrative Message, missing pertinent recovery information," White wrote, adding: "Corporal McMahon failed to reply or follow up when request for required missing information was sent to him.

"These failures raised some concerns within the Detroit Police Department, due to the fact that the ultimate outcome led to substantial tow fees to be paid by the citizens," White wrote.

A federal lawsuit filed in August accuses McMahon and Hamtramck Officer Michael Stout of conspiring with Fiore to illegally seize vehicles to collect towing and impound fees.
Highland Park spokeswoman Marli Blackman did not respond to a request for comment.

Cocktails & Popcorn: Bert Johnson Made A Video To Expand His Investigation

Cool story, Bruh.

I sit with baited breath, waiting to hear their stories.

Political pals helped spare Johnson stiff prison term

Janee Ayers
Detroit — Several elected officials and political heavyweights, including former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, helped disgraced state Sen. Bert Johnson dodge a stiff prison term by writing supportive letters to the court.

More than two dozen letters were made public Monday and revealed that politicians, including Detroit City Council members Scott Benson and Janee Ayers, used city letterhead while writing letters supporting Johnson's plea for leniency.

The letters were made public four days after Johnson was sentenced to 90 days in a county jail for stealing more than $23,000 from taxpayers by adding a ghost employee to his senate payroll. U.S. District Judge Matthew Leitman cited the letters, saying that without the personal appeals, he would have sentenced Johnson to as much as 12 months in federal prison.

Johnson received support from numerous Democratic Party heavyweights and a broad cross-section of the community: local and state politicians, a lobbyist and relatives who backed a corrupt politician with a rap sheet, a chronic list of bad debts and the worst attendance record in the state Legislature.
“In my conversations with Bert he realizes he made a mistake, but I hope you will exercise the greatest level of leniency in your sentencing of Mr. Johnson," Benson wrote. "Even though a sever (sic) lapse of judgment has occurred, Bert is not a threat to society and his community can best be served by him remaining free."

Ayers called Johnson one of her best friends.

“Bert has been a mentor and a strong pillar within the community that he represents and throughout the state," Ayers wrote.

In an interview Monday, Ayers said she didn’t think there was anything wrong with using city letterhead since the letter was coming from two vantage points; in her official capacity as a council person as well as on a personal level.

“It was an official letter coming from me as a council person. I didn’t think of it as infringing on any rules,” Ayers said. “I wrote the letter as a council  member and I printed it out on my letter head as a council person. If it is a negligence in using that, I apologize. I didn’t think about it from that perspective.”

Bing, meanwhile, wrote that Johnson was a hard-working legislator who fought for constituents.
“I am aware that Bert has pleaded guilty; but would hope that his political background, his public service, as well as his overall commitment to his community be considered and, therefore, allow for leniency regarding his sentencing," Bing wrote.

Johnson's public service outweighed his crimes and rap sheet, which includes a teenage conviction for armed robbery, Johnson's defense lawyer John Shea said last week.

“Please do not allow this recent indiscretion tarnish the good that Mr. Johnson has done as a state representative and senator," Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp wroteon city letterhead.

State Rep. Jewell Jones, a first-term Democratic lawmaker from Inkster, called Johnson a "gladiator."
36th District Court Judge William McConico
“It is times like now when we need powerful, respected leaders in our nation, I believe it would be a disservice to the public to lose a gladiator like Bertram Johnson," Jones wrote. "Godspeed!”

William McConico, a 36th District Court Judge in Detroit, cited his friendship with Johnson while urging leniency.

“I ask you to take into account that Bert is much more of an asset within the community than away from it,” McConico wrote.

Johnson fought for the poor and children, wrote former state Rep. Phil Cavanaugh, who works for the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office.

“I believe that Bertram Johnson is truly remorseful for any wrongdoing,” Cavanaugh wrote.
A new documentary raises questions about Johnson’s remorse.

Speaking directly to the camera at some point after his indictment but prior to his conviction, Johnson says he went to the Capitol “every day trying to make a difference, trying to make a change” and help constituents.

“And somebody wants to take it away from you? Somebody wants to say you’re not the guy anymore? Frustrated is not the word. It’s (expletive).”

Hamtramck City Attorney Travis Mihelick Rips Off City Because “People get litigation happy”

As reported by the Hamtramck Review, in the article entitled "City once again facing a financial crisis despite state oversight"  I have shared a statement by the City Attorney speaking upon the $500,000 in litigation costs for 2016:

"City Attorney Travis Mihelick said the ongoing legal fees boils down to one thing: “People get litigation happy,” he told the state-appointed Transition Advisory Board."

No.  People have the right of due process and people have the right of free speech when the City Attorney does not do his job and protect the rights of its citizens.

Just for the simple fact that this man, I shall intentionally omit his title as a foreboding act of stripping his license, has failed to function as the City Attorney.

TravisMihelick_OEP7025
Hamtramck City Attorney Travis Mihelick
This man, Travis Mihelick is supposed to be a public servant, but it seems, since he just made partner, has been serving himself and his partners at his law firm.

Yes, that is correct.  Mihelick has no contract with the City to even represent the City.  Heck, he has not even filed an oath of office, but of course, as everyone knows, one does not have to have an oath of office, let alone follow the law, when it comes to defalcation.

Instead of hiring a City Attorney with an annual salary, let us say $70,000 and a $100,000 budget, to farm out conflict of interest cases, the City of Hamtramck prefers to allow the City Attorney to bill, line item bill.

Now, this begs the question, "Who approves the cost-reimbursements?"

City Council, of course.

See, I am just going to allege  that City Council is severely lacking administrative acumen and Mihelick knows this very well.

One half of City Council supports gender segregation while the others are too busy taking stuff from the city and trying not to get busted.

For instance, Hamtramck changed its fiscal year to cover up its budget shortfalls for years.

What this means is that a fiscal year for federal, state and counties begin October 1st, but not in Hamtramck.

So, instead of a City Attorney, Travis Mihelick, doing his job of protecting the citizens of the City, you have a man who will sit back, waiting for someone to get "litigation happy" then bill the City for it with frivolous and dilatory motions.

For example,

Oh, and do not let me forgot to mention that Travis Mihelick has a motion for sanctions sitting on the desk of another federal judge.

The following is an excerpt from the instant complaint which was obviously filed by someone bitten by the"litigation happy" bug,  today, at 3:00 p.m. in the Michigan Eastern District Court:
28. Upon information and belief, that during the course of the investigation and racially targeted mission to rid the Hamtramck community of “these fucking Arabs” and “Sam everybody like him”, Defendant police officers Stout and McMahon habitually referenced members of the Arab American business community, including Plaintiff R. Joumaah, an Arab American, as; “towel heads”, “rag heads”, “sand niggers” and “camel jockeys”. (See Ex. A John Doe v. Detective McMahon et. al paragraphs 3643).
29. Upon information and belief, that as a factual basis to fabricate probable cause to procure a search warrant, and initiate a raid upon Plaintiff Sam’s Tire Shop and the residence of Plaintiffs R. Joumaah, the confidential John Doe informant was directed by Defendants McMahon and Stout to present himself to Plaintiff R. Joumaah, as a purchaser of marijuana and guns.

I strongly encourage City Council to start looking for a new City Attorney, just in case, because I have a feeling there are going to be people who will read this, be really displeased with what I have just published, and will be too enthused to do something about it if you do not.

City Attorney says his bills can’t be looked at

According to City Attorney James Allen, of the Allen Brothers law firm, the monthly bills he submits to the city outlining what cases and issues he worked on and how much he and other attorneys in his law firm received in payment are “privileged” information.

Michigan Democratic Party Wants To Know Why People Think It Sucks

Brandon Dillon is the new face of the Michigan Democratic Party, #MDP .

Thank goodness, because the MDP possesses a long, and dramatic  history of sucking.

The MDP needs your voice as we begin to undertake our strategic planning process to build a strong foundation for 2016 and beyond. Take the survey today at www.michigande...
MICHIGANDEMS.COM

BTW, there is no link to the survey on the YouTube video.  Here is the link to the survey.

Allow me to share with you a brief history of why the MDP has sucked for so long.

DETROIT

Detroit and its municiple gems possess the largest concentration of a voting age population, yet, when it comes to state leadership, it has traditionally thrown its nose up in the air to the 13th and 14th Democratic Congressional Districts.

When Mark Brewer and Lon Johnson were both running for the seat of State Chair, neither of them wasted their time to even engage these Detroit districts when it came to the convention vote.  I was present to listen to the, well, let's just say "spirited discussions" on why these candidates would not come to stomp for their own vote in Detroit.

Ron Scott, of the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality attempted to run against Mark Brewer a few years ago.  Scott raised an interesting issue regarding the mandatory $1,000 filing fee to become a candidate for MDP State Chair.  He called it a "poll tax".

Now, why would he call a filing fee to run for office a "poll tax"?

Well, it seems that if you are poor, there is a strong likelihood that you will not be able to afford a run for office, so the $1,000 filing fee, imposed by the MDP, should be considered to be more like a "poll toll" because, in order to play, you must pay, and everyone knows the poverty rates in Detroit, the largest voting base of Michigan.

Considering the fact that Detroit and most of its surrounding communities wake up everyday to the smiling face of poverty, the poll toll functions as a filter for the MDP elite.

I call them the elite because all the contracts, and jobs, go to the same Lansing clique.

YOUTH

Youth, as I know it from federal codes, is typically until the age of 18, with exceptions in child welfare allowing the "youth" age ceiling to be raised to the age of 25.

The only thing The Michigan Democratic Party Youth Caucus is doing for youth is recruiting youth for more campaigning for their hand picked candidates.

Of course, Detroit youth and their struggles are never on the agenda.

JOBS

So far, from what I know and what I see, there are no jobs initiatives but there are lots of fundraising in Lansing.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

I believe it was some time during the 2008 election cycle that I was able to have a seat at the table with MDP leadership.  I was literally stunned with the lack of technological sophistication.

The MDP website was using a free Wordpress code which came with an astronomical price tag.  Why?  It was free, yet it really, really sucks.  There are so many web developers and SEO experts working, like myself, tirelessly on showing off their skills to win the opportunity to bid on contracts.

Now they use Drupal coding.

But of course, keeping to the MDP structure, there are no public bid announcements.

Advanced networking of the website does not exist.  Here is an example.  No where do you see an hyperlink to the District Parties, or any other participating group, websites.  This is pretty sad.

What is even sadder is the fact that the bloggers and other individual sites are excluded from being supported by the MDP.

The MDP should not strictly focus on sending out sensationally obnoxious emails to people they already know are too broke to hand over spare dollars and will not read them for lack of source links and citations, but extend their cyber arms to embrace others who are sincerely trying to give a voice to people who cannot afford to run for office.

Running for office is not always about getting elected, it is also about elevating an issuse to the public agenda and preserving the record of history.  Every tweet or facebook post is recorded in the Library of Congress.

Extranet public relations do not exist for the MDP.  There is no one to standfast to research and develop an internet presence with backlinks or keywords.

The site has no search option nor does it have archives.

God forbid I speak upon the cost of the development of its mobile apps, which were also free, of course.

Someone made goo goobs of money and it was not the people.  I wonder who the shyster is?

I would say more on how badly its SEO sucks, but I want the MDP social networking contract.

RECRUITING CANDIDATES AND NEW MEMBERS

If the MDP wants its leadership to reflect its base, it should come down from the ivory tower every once in a while and rub shoulders with the people.  All the funtions typically have an entry cost, as they are fundraisers, and, with extremely poor social networking, no one really knows what is going on.

I get a real hoot watching state candidates run for office.  You typically, immediately spot who will win the seat because the MDP will only support who they want, not what the people want.

Running for office is not always about getting elected. It is also about giving a voice to issues which are too contraversial for prime time politics, like child welfare.

With the advancements of technology, SEO has created the ability to reach many groups, instantly and progressively, from the palm of your hand.  I should know.  I am doing it with this post.

DIVERSITY

Little known fact, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently had to create a diversity recruitment division.  Seriously.

MCP former Chair Lon Johnson addressing Detroit
area party leadership
In regards to diversity, the MDP has a unique take on this topic.  During the 2014 election cycle Lon Johnson, former Chair of the MDP, came to Detroit to speak to local party leadership.

He left me utterly speechless.

Johnson came to promote the initiative to "make  African-Americans vote in Detroit so the MDP could put in its gubernatorial candidate, whom no one could ever pronounce, spell his name or pick him out of a police line up.

First off, the MDP practice of labeling, and even assigning forced labels upon people, based on a really skewed and archaic concept of forcing an individual to "pick one racial identity" is what has turned off Detroit voters.

I tried to speak upon the cultural amalgamation of a vote base which is historically ignored, but I guess it did not fit in with current party rhetoric.

There are so many individuals, who may not have English as their first language, who are illiterate, and who know nothing about civic participation, government structure and administration, the role of an elected official or even know about campaign finance.

I guess the MDP does not believe its base is important enough to be educated on voting rights and candidate rights.

With all said, well, not really, I am intentionally holding back specifics, one may be now in a position to understand why the Democrats lost the 2014 elections; it alienated its base.

I am posting this to encourage everyone to participate in this survey and to skew stats on the video and survey responses.

Again, #BrandonDillion is a wonderful person I have had the pleasure of working with him on child welfare issues.

Show him some love and share this post, alot.

And make sure you let the #MDP know when you fill out the survey that I should get the social networking contract.

Feds accuse retired DPS official in $6M tutoring fraud

This is absolutely egregious behavior towards society.

Not only were data skewed to generate a false, national perception of the abilities of the youth but it also damaged the reputation of teachers.

Here are some of her accomplishments in ruining the future of Detroit.
Detroit— A former high-level Detroit Public Schools administrator who started her own tutoring company to serve low-income students has been accused of federal program fraud and money laundering in an alleged scheme involving $6.17 million in federal funds for students in DPS and Highland Park schools.

The FBI seized multiple bank accounts belonging to Carolyn Starkey-Darden and her husband, Anthony Darden, after launching an investigation in 2011 into the couple and three of their businesses. The companies were formed to provide after-school tutoring to students who attended schools targeted for improvement on federal progress goals.

In the 39-page civilcomplaintfiled in U.S. District Court, federal prosecutors allege Starkey-Darden ordered the falsification of documents, including inputting false pre-test scores, creating fake individualized learning plans for students, forging parental signatures on monthly attendance records and submitting inflated invoices for unperformed services.

Student progress reports were doctored, FBI agents allege, and Starkey-Darden’s company billed for students who weren’t in class, according to the complaint.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office filed a forfeiture action in April after seizing more than $282,800 in accounts that belonged to Starkey-Darden, her husband and their companies.

Investigators said Starkey-Darden created her own proxy form for parent signatures, which removed parents from overseeing their children’s attendance, and instructed employees to forge parent signatures of tutored students.

The complaint is a civil action against the couple’s bank accounts, and they have not been criminally charged. Attorneys for Starkey-Darden and her husband did not return calls Wednesday. DPS officials did not respond to requests for comment.

Gina Bayala, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, declined comment.
The three companies under investigation are Grants ’N Such, MI Learning Unlimited and the Learning Unlimited Companies. Agents determined that from June 22, 2006, through Oct. 19, 2012, the companies received $6.17 million in federally subsidized program money.

Agents allege a general rule in the scheme was to give each potential student a fabricated pre-test score that was three to five grades lower than the student’s actual grade that school year.

In an email agents retrieved from Starkey-Darden to employees, Starkey-Darden allegedly wrote, “I put in some fake scores for a few kids at Denby, just to get their plans approved. When and if we get new ones from Edith, just replace what I put in.”

An employee sent Starkey-Darden an email saying she was confused about “making up the pre-test dates.”

Prosecutors allege Starkey-Darden falsified documents required by DPS and Highland Park schools for payment of logged tutoring hours.

Starkey-Darden, who was director of grant development for DPS, retired Oct. 31, 2005. She was the former director of Title 1 compliance at DPS, a job that involved the distribution of federal funds to local school districts.

Starkey-Darden filed articles of organization for one of her companies on July 20, 2005 — before her retirement. Starkey-Darden filed articles of organization for another company Nov. 2, two days after her retirement. Her husband entered into a contract with DPS for tutoring services on Nov. 1.

The case is set for a status conference at 9:30 a.m. June 20 before U.S. District Court Judge Laurie J. Michelson.
