Wabanaki TRC claims that Maine Child Welfare destroys native children and families to make them white
I came across an article on the TRC conclusion late last night and was really too tired to get into it.

Kill the Indian, Save the Man~ Capt. Richard H. PrattCultural Genocide is a horrible thing. Children have every right to grow up knowing who they are and where they came from. I don't care what race or nationality you are. You have the right to know your parents and your roots.
Wabanaki children were taken away and put into boarding schools and foster homes and group homes to try to assimilate them into white culture. The end result was much more devastating as these children suffered abuse, were denied their roots and were denied the opportunity to grow up in loving families.
Words simply can't describe how horrible this must have been for these families and I can't begin to claim that I understand what many of them went through. And yes folks, this happened right here in Maine. It has been happening for years. It still happens today all across the USA, Canada and Australia.
