Department of Defense Shows Lack of Regulation in Child Welfare System

The U.S. Department of Defense has put out an announcement for comments to its proposed rule on background checks for child care.

Comments must be received by December 1, 2014.

The reason this is of importance is because, as we are witnessing, child welfare is not limited to the Department of Health and Human Services and the fact that there are no uniform rules when dealing with children.

The United States is one of the few countries that refuses to adopt universal meanings to the nomenclature of child welfare with extremely poor, if any, regulation to prevent fraud, ,waste and abuse.

The cost of the program is $10 million.

As this applies to military families, it must be understood that the current system child welfare is under the jurisdiction of the DoD, and not any state agency.
