While lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and across the political spectrum consistently rank addressing unemployment as a top priority, there has been little bipartisan action to spur job creation in recent years. The Congressional Full Employment Caucus – founded by Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.) and Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) – will hold panel discussing this crisis, entitled “Bipartisan Solutions to Long-Term Unemployment,” in 2226 Rayburn House Office Building.
This panel will bring together a diverse range of leading thinkers to identify proven bipartisan solutions - that Congress can pass immediately - to combat the ongoing employment crisis in the United States and get Americans back to work.This event will be moderated by Arthur Delaney with the Huffington Post, and esteemed panelists include:
- Betsey Stevenson, a Member of the White House Council of Economic Advisors;
- Michael Strain, a Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute;
- Judy Conti, Federal Advocacy Coordinator with the National Employment Law Project; and
- Heidi Shierholz, an Economist at the Economic Policy Institute.
