DETROIT (November 22, 2013) - This weekend, State Representative Thomas Stallworth (D-Detroit) will be joining with organizations throughout the Metro Detroit area to provide charitable gifts for families and individuals, ahead of Thanksgiving week. "As we enter the holiday season, it is important to remain committed to families who continue to struggle through difficult times here in Detroit," said Stallworth. "During this time of year, it is easy to get caught up in the bustle around us and to forget about the things that are truly important in all of our lives. "Every day, organizations, churches and shelters are working to provide invaluable services for our neighborhoods and communities. Their efforts are a constant reminder that charity and giving remain an integral part of the spirit of this season." The following is a list of public events Rep. Stallworth will be attending: Friday, November 22, 2013 WHO: State Rep. Thomas Stallworth (D-Detroit) WHERE: Detroit World Outreach Mission 23800 W. Chicago Redford MI WHEN: Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. WHY: Detroit World Outreach works to impact communities throughout Detroit by offering a wide variety of assistance programs, including shelter ministries, food services and inner-city/urban services. On Friday, Rep. Stallworth will work with Detroit World Outreach to donate shoes to the needy. Sunday, November 24, 2013 WHO: State Rep. Thomas Stallworth (D-Detroit) WHERE: Greater Grace Temple 23500 W. Seven Mile Detroit MI WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 24, immediately following the 11 a.m. service WHY: On Sunday, after the regular 11 a.m. service, Rep. Stallworth will work alongside Bishop and First Lady Ellis to distribute turkeys to the congregation's families. Monday, November 25, 2013 WHO: State Rep. Thomas Stallworth (D-Detroit) WHERE: Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries' Homeless Shelter 13220 Woodward Ave. Highland Park WHEN: Monday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. WHY: For over 100 years, the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries have worked to provide food, shelter and services to homeless families and individuals across Metro Detroit. On Monday, Rep. Stallworth will work with the organization to deliver clothing to the disadvantaged before the start of the holiday season. |
