The Poverty of Child Abuse Propaganda

If you are going to spout child abuse propaganda, at least try to impress those who are with basic education in detecting deficiencies in logical presentations and take a statistics class or hire someone who at least has an idea of what they are talking about.

These pathetic newcasters reported 50% of children in Detroit are living below the federal poverty line yet they failed to cite the number of children living at or slightly above. this difference could be as little as one dollar or as much as 5,000 dollars, still putting a family of 3 officially in poverty.

Then the reporters said "increase" in child abuse and neglect cases, which did not give any previous statistical reference in relevance to the population.  It increased from what to what and was that increase significant.  Perhaps the increase in child abuse and neglect has something to do with the lack of medical coverage and resources.  For a child with extreme special needs, the only way to access that level of qualified care is to enter the foster care system.  The only crime was the crime of having no health care coverage.

Keep in mind that there are many, if not all insurance companies who consider conditions such as autism as pre-existing, leaving the parent with no place to turn but to child protective services.

Michigan is hiring over 500 child welfare case workers and there is still no oversight on its state operations.  Overall, poverty is still considered the crime of abuse and neglect.  May God have mercy on the souls of the poor in Detroit.
