No Such Thing as Parental Rights...

For those of you who are walking around, intoxicated with the dream that there is going to be a parental rights amendment to the Constitution, I am sorry to inform you, once again, that parental rights in the understanding you possess, does not exist.

There is no such thing as parental rights for those who claim to support parental rights.  In all actuality, by advocating for parental rights, they setting themselves up to be stripped of certain individual rights.

If a child is under the auspices of the state (i.e. foster care, juvenile justice) guess what, the state is the parent because you lost your privilege as the guardian and custodian.

2-206. "Status as a parent" refers to the status of an individual who, with respect to an individual who is under the age of 18 or who is 18 or older but is incapable of self-care because of a physical or mental disability, is:
(a) a biological parent;
(b) an adoptive parent;
(c) a foster parent;
(d) a stepparent;
(e) a custodian of a legal ward;
(f) in loco parentis over such an individual; or
(g) actively seeking legal custody or adoption of such an individual.
