Where Are Michigan's Child Welfare Checks and Balances?

Get ready for harvesting time.

That's right, April is child abuse propaganda month where the States will be releasing its marketing campaign of big government intervention.  For every call to CPS, the more taxpayer dollars are dumped into a system that has proven not to be very high in quality.  If this was the case, I do not believe there would be a Congressional Caucus on Foster Care.

Instead of reinvesting in human capital, the infrastructure which maintains a society has been shut down leaving people desperate to solve the problems created by society.  Then with the launch of revenue-maximizing revenue schemes such as child abuse propaganda month, the average everyday citizen is encouraged to report issues of poverty as opposed to providing services without fear of reprisal.

Reprisal is having your child Legally Kidnapped.  If this is the only current alternative to accessing services then I would have no issues with the system as long as there are checks and balances, but there are none as one is presumed guilty until proven innocent.

The concept of a centralized hot line is very efficient particularly when partnered with elder abuse but it does not address the issues with the current system: a lack of oversight.

I want a statewide child welfare services complaint hotline and full follow-through in partnership with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Michigan debuts toll-free child abuse call-in plan

Michigan will staff an around-the-clock, toll-free phone number aimed at making it easier to report suspected child abuse and neglect cases.

The statewide centralized system debuts today and also can be used to report abuse of adults.

The number also will be staffed weekends and holidays. Decisions on whether to investigate a child abuse case are expected to be made on the spot.

Abuse and neglect calls previously went to county-level Department of Human Services offices.

DHS Director Maura Corrigan says the centralized system will offer more consistency for handling complaints.

A centralized system is a requirement of a court-ordered mandate for the state to improve conditions for children needing protective services.

The statewide number for reporting abuse will be 1-855-444-3911.
