I would like to see the psychotropics he was on to see if it was on the DOJ list of unapproved FDA drugs that were "illegally and wrongfully" marketed and prescribed to kids.
Teen resident commits suicide at Highland youth facility
HIGHLAND — A 16-year-old boy at the state's Highland Residential Facility killed himself Tuesday, according to authorities.
The youth hanged himself in his room Tuesday night as he waited for his turn to shower, according to a source familiar with the facility. There were no bruises or other signs that would indicate foul play, according to state police in Highland, which conducted the investigation.
An autopsy confirmed the case as suicide, police said.
State officials refused to comment, so it was unclear Thursday whether there were any warning signs or if the youth was under suicide watch.
The Highland facility is operated by the state's Office of Children and Family Services. The facility on Chodikee Lake Road serves male juvenile delinquents ages 12 to 19 placed with the agency by family courts. It currently has 122 residents.
The last suicide in the system happened in December 1991. A resident from Ulster County committed suicide at Masten Park Secure Center in Buffalo.
